MEGA Hood Thread (some day)

How many different types of hoods are there now for the JK?

The Hood Power Bulge
The sculpted MoparŪ power-dome hood.
And we have the anniversary edition with its "All-new Hood with functional vents and drainage"

What else for the JK? Anything not too obscure?

And anyone know the official title of the Anniversary hood (yea, feeling lazy).

Cheers,
Bob

Dont for get the AEV hood. Very similar to the Mopar hood but functional.

Absolutely!

After listing, I wanted to get to comparisons: the aniversary edition v. the AEV, for example, would be a good one.

I really like the AEV. My neighbor down the street has an MW3, looking at that hood all the time makes me want one! :D

I get a lot of compliments from mine. Different, yet not "over the top".

GonzoBobH 05-07-2013 05:53 PM

Hoods:
AEV
10th Aniv
COD
MW3

 Anything else?

The MW3 and Moab are both the same, they use the AEV hood (not a different one).

I will do the AEV hood. It's on the bucket list but will be a ways down the road...too many other mods I want to do.

The TMD is the Truck Master (above).

The other vents and the River Raider Hi-Flow Hood, but that's not currently available. The site says they will be at the end of the month, though. So call that one pending.

Hey Bob, good to have you back!

Here's another option at a fraction of the price of an entire hood, from Poison Spyder:

(I'm kind of thinking about getting this myself)

GonzoBobH 05-08-2013 02:33 PM

Thanks, BM.

I think the poison spider does look pretty cool - as does most of their stuff.

Since I have my Ace sliders on now, starting to think of the next change.

Kind of have it down to the Mopar 10A (not yet available, it seems) and AEV heat reduction. Curious which one functions better, or if that can even be determined.

Something to ruminate on.

Let me know how you like the PS insert, if you end up going that route.

I'm looking for a hood that will fit good on my 2012 jeep wrangler sport. I like the Road Race Vented Hood. Anyone have issues with after market hoods? And know where I can order one thats close by? I live in Payson, az.
