I drained late last night, took the calipers off and tgb 3 bolts to the steering knuckle lady night and noticed how rusty the hub was, I will take a better look at it tonight when I get home. Where exactly would the c clips be?

No c clips in the front axles. The shafts are held in place by being attached to the hub bearings. If you have the hubs removed the axles should slide right out. Maybe a little tug with a slide hammer or attach a length of heavy chain the the end and with some slack in the chain give it a good hard whip like yank the weight of the slack chain when it tightens up acts like the weight in a slide hammer. :thumb:

try not to damage the axle seals when removing the shafts..or just plan on replacing them while its apart is a better idea.

i am not sure about the 95 but i have a spare axle out of another yj(unknown year) that i am pulling apart to rebuild and indeed the stub shaft has a c clip holding it in.

i think some earlier dana 30s had them

A quick Google search says that some of the long side shafts had a c-clip to hold the inner axle in during assembly, but not needed after that. The short side should come out easy. You do have the unit bearing removed?

I have a 93 Dana 30 and it does not have c-clips. The axles can be a bear to remove though.

I finally got the axles out, the passenger side has a little fluid in there when the outer shaft came out, so I'm assuming I have to replace that seal now just to be safe. There were no c clips, just really rusted in there. I appreciate all the help guys

While you have it apart, check the intermediate bushing and seals.
