Jeep!!

New to Jeeps, just got my very first one last week as an early b-day present from the hubby. Have always wanted one, and now I have one! It's a 2000 TJ, 5spd manual, dark green with a tan soft top. My first jeep and my first stick shift... It's pretty fun, and I love driving it. Have yet to take it on the highway/interstate yet, but I know it will be slow going (she doesn't like going more then 70mph at the very most, likes 60mph better).

I'm excited to take it up to the mountains this summer when we go camping and trail running. I'll have my Jeep and my hubby his Xterra.

I do have one question about the seat belts... The back seat belts in my Jeep don't lock when you pull them all the way out (to lock a carseat or booster seat into place). Anyone know if this is just my Jeep or all Jeeps? And where I can find a replacement that does lock? I only ask because I have 2 young kids who love going for rides and I'd love to drive the Jeep into town with them, but can't because of that. I won't mind once we're up in the mountains, but on the way there or just driving around town I can't not have the locking mechanism working. Hope that made sense, lol.

I will post a pic soon! Can't wait to read and learn more about my TJ.

Welcome and congrats on your new (to you) TJ! I can't answer your question about the back seatbelts because I rarely run a backseat in mine. Perks of being a single college student!

I hope in time you come to love your TJ even more than you already do! Don't forget to wave!

My "99" only locks in case of a rapid stop. Your 2000 is probably the same. Welcome to the forum, and congrats on your new Jeep.

Welcome fellow Jeeper !!!! I only use the back seats when my grandsons are home from overseas, ( navy ),, the belts only lock up when needed.. Experiment by making your husband sit back there, then give him a white knuckle ride with several abrupt stops. If he doesn't come flying up through the windshield the you'll know they work... Have fun !! ;)

I know rear seat belt doesn't have lock retention like a lot of newer models do, but I know how I got around it with my 2000 and my 06 LJ with my daughter is by using a ratchet tension device that I got through Baby R Us. and I can tight it down to where there is no movement in the car seat.

If your car seats have latch hooks, use those. The seat is equipped for them. The top latch goes to the floorboard hooks in the rear behind the seat

Cool! Thanks for the ideas! I like the idea of giving the hubby a white knuckle ride and abrupt stop :D haha! I will pull my camera out today and take a pic and load it up.

Does the mighty tite work like a winch strap? Kind of looks like it does. If that's the case, I'm buying two, asap!

Oh and :wavey: hehe

Yes it works like a winch strap. With my daughters car seat installed using the latch system in my 06 it would still move more than an inch side to side even though it was as tight as I could get it. Using the ratchet unit I cannot move the seat maybe more then a 1/4" side to side. I use it in both my 06 and my wifes 2000.
