Mudding with no top?

Anybody do it? I'm debating about it

Jeepzjlover 05-08-2013 09:21 PM

Atleast leave you're doors on take you're carpets out either way just cleaning mud off the outside sucks

wwch99tj 05-08-2013 09:21 PM

Doesn't sound like a good idea to me...

blackrubi003 05-08-2013 09:22 PM

it sounds like a good idea if your objective is trashing the inside of your jeep

adamfitz 05-08-2013 09:24 PM

If you have no carpets leather seats and no back seat or roll bar covers all you'll need is a power washer.. It's not bad

DANGItsVictor 05-08-2013 09:24 PM

I went through a mud pit a few weeks back with the windows down (forgot they were down)... NOT A GOOD IDEA. Cleaning it takes forever and it has a mildewy smell now from being wet.

Austin14 05-08-2013 09:30 PM

Well my whole inside was professionally sprayed so I'm not worried about ruining the inside because it will just wash out with no problem. I was wondering how bad it is. Like do you get filthy driving and what will happen if my dash gets all muddy

wwch99tj 05-08-2013 09:33 PM

Sounds like you're going to find out :thumb:

Mudding? NO

Mudding with no top? HELL NO!

With that said, been there, done that got the T shirt. No more for me.

You can't power wash the dash. I went through a small creek on my land a while back ( after some liquid encouragement) and had the windows down and I still can't get the door panels clean. I don't care for mud had enough of that before my 4-wheeler got stolen.

Obviously got alot more mud but it was a one time experience. Too much cleanup but you can just go through the car wash topless and doorless like me lol

Attachment 246853
You just have to pull dash apart to clean panels

ohiok5 05-09-2013 12:26 AM

i would say if you have tires that dont stick out from the fenders, go for it

however mine sick out a few inches and just going thru a small puddle sucks

bmlbrewer 05-09-2013 01:38 AM

No top, no doors, no windshield, goggles, and a smile. Got some really funny looks heading back into town that day.

Exactly..if your tires are covered by your flares then you shouldn have a problem. Myself i have tsl swampers and cut flares and the inside of my jeep looks like the swamp when i have no top..it takes all day just to clean the mud out of it. I hate mud and i avoid it if i can..its a pain to clean, ruin and breaks stuff, and did i mention its a pain to clean!

kshaws21 05-09-2013 06:10 PM

Yep, tires covered by flares makes mud so much more tolerable. Notice how little of the mud escaped from under the flares.

Ha I don't even have flares I took them off cuz Dont like them. But I'll have doors and a safari top on

Willybusmc 05-09-2013 06:38 PM

In my yj I do this pretty often. My interior is bed lined and I have water resistant seats. I even spray my dash off straight with a hose. No issues so far. If you use a little discretion and don't get stuck you'll stay relatively dry and clean. Obviously wider tires fling it more, but for the most part the mud and water goes out and up rather than up and in.

Here ya go. it's not me but a cool picture

Not mine glad I don't haft to clean

Wordgie 05-09-2013 08:29 PM

Every time I've done it, I say I'll never do it again.

X infinity on removing the carpet.

Your roll bar pads will never be the same again, you'll find mud from that day to eternity in places you swore you've already cleaned (I found a golf ball size clump in my AC vents after one particular romp in the mud), then there's the clothes you're wearing at the time. Don't wear anything you're emotionally attached to.

But it is fun as hell.

Sometimes it is no top. But I have the safari top on sometimes now

oneeyebear 05-10-2013 12:04 AM

I prefer the top off, and doors off. It's not too bad, if you try not to throw mud everywhere you can do it successfully. I like to take the mud pits slow, so not very much mud gets into the jeep anyway.
