John Bull - May 25th

So the title says it all...who is ready to open Bull season! :D

The start time will be 9-930 depending on how many we have and we will
Meet at the gate keeper.

I would like to get about 5-6 Jeeps and if we have time we can add another trail....:thumb:

I will be there if you think my limited slip would be alright. I'm not afraid to take a strap if need be. Never done JB. No magic button. Soon though :D

suicideking 05-08-2013 10:07 PM

I'm in! Need to also try to get out of there as early as possible so would like to start earlier. :thumb:

My opinion is that if you can handle Calico (Doran and Odessa) then you're good for JB. I think armor is more important than the locker. We can give you a tug if needed. :thumb:

Just Fyi for those that were following Dakota123 on the original thread, he is still going to do Big Bear, just a bit later in the day and maybe Gold Mountain. So you have an early or late option...your covered...:)

I asked him if he would take my good looks in currency but that's a no go.

Can't think of a better way to break in my new tires and gears. Didn't get the chromoly axle (due to a series of unfortunate events) but we'll give it a shot.

Tires and gears are a great part of the build, what happen to the locker and Chromos?

OrangeJKjim 05-08-2013 10:36 PM

Count me in. Earlier starts are always better! Looking forward to my first time John Bull.

Still got the locker.

The rest is a long story. I bought a D35 w/ 4.56 gears off an XJ from someone who shall remain somewhat anonymous. It was represented that there were no problems and that I'd be able to use the gears and the carrier and swap them onto mine. Turned out that they were shredded and pretty useless. I don't think he knew, so I'm trying not to be too mad. I only paid $100 for it, so not a huge deal.

Anyway, change of plans led to Stan having to track down another open D35 carrier, brand new re-gearing front and back, rear lunchbox locker, tires, and a spare XJ axle shaft...but no chromoly axle shaft.

Great Jim, glad you can make it!! :thumb:

and glad its your first time...its not as bad as people make it out to be..

Heck, I once heard of a guy that ran it in an unlocked tricycle in the snow...backwards...:punk:

Gunner 05-08-2013 11:08 PM

I did this trail about 4 weeks ago. Had a blast. With some spotting it should be ok for an open jeep. Lockers made it pretty easy.

sjchoueiry 05-08-2013 11:23 PM

Hey Bill I think I can make this run. I too like an early start.
By the way where is Dan? I have not seen him on the forum lately.

Hey Joe, Great, hope you can make it!

Dan has been busy with his son who has been bike racing. Dan is involved with biking real big as well. On top of that Tamey hurt her knee and had to have surgery today.

Thanks Bill. Sorry to hear about Tamey. Wish her a fast recovery.
I'm looking forward to run JB again with my best wheeling buddies.
Joe

I think I'm ready for JB myself and would like to join you Bill.

Cool, Cleghorn in 2 days and JB in 2 weeks.

Dougzin 05-09-2013 10:57 AM

Didn't take long to get 6 takers :punk:

I think its actually 8 right now...I wasn't saying that to be a jerk or anything, the last 2 runs were like 15 and 18 Jeeps and they are great.

I just wanted to get a smaller group together as it might be busy that weekend and I need to get back at a reasonable time...we could probably stretch it to around 10 or so if needed...:)

Yeah, 10 might be a good number to cap it if we want to have time for a second trail and still get out of there at a decent time.

Yea, I've been way to busy for a retired person, and it is now time to stay close to home and wheel.

AAAAHHH Bill I might have to try and make this one. It is only 5 days from Graduation though. :banghead: :banghead:

Knowing the turnouts for ur runs Bill ur gonna hit 10 by the end of the day...

DTM 05-09-2013 04:44 PM

I would LOVE to test my NEW rear bumper MOD on this run! But I'm going to have to wait and see how my jeeping partner (my wife) is doing at that time. For those that don't know, she few and tore her patella tendon. She had surgery yesterday and has a long road to recovery...

Gunner 05-09-2013 05:53 PM

Sorry to hear that. Hope she heals soon.
