My friends Rubicon luck story
I had a 98 sport my friend saw me mudding it up and he said he use to have a Cj-7 but he wanted a newer one

After talking to him and he explains his needs,he liked the Tj body so I explained that he needed a used Rubicon

A month later he tells me that he bought a 2006 Rubi unlimited,20,000 miles, hemi swap auto for $20,000
He bought it from our local big time lawyer that just passed away,he bought it from the family
Great deal

Here's where the luck came in
We live in south Louisiana,he wanted to rock crawl so he planned a Moab trip
Drove it up there and to all kinds if other places

He stops at American Expedition Vechicles cause there's a sticker on the fenders from that place
AEV tells him all about his new Jeep
It's a Custom AEV built Rubi unlimited that the original owner paid $74,000
To build
And this guy pics it up for $20,000

Just thought I'd like to share
Atleast someone found a great deal

Great story! I hope for 74k the first owner got more than a hemi. What else does it have?

GoldenSahara00 05-09-2013 01:57 PM

Yeah... Hiline and AEV hood had me thinking. He got a good deal anyways, and then that. Nice for him :thumb:

A stock LJ rubi with 20k miles would probably run that same price...your buddy got a steal.

Agreed great deal all the same.
I can never luck into anything like this.

Get some motor pics.

ou812 05-09-2013 02:17 PM

He claims AEV says its fully built axles
Fullsize truck transmission and transfercase with the hemi swap
2.5" ome lift
Not sure on the gear ratio but it will roast the 35" tires effortlessly on asphalt
It has aftermarket bumpers
Under body skids

Either way the price he paid was a steal
He's one of those guys that don't know much about jeep stuff
Now maybe the $74'000 tag was including the rubi sticker price

x2 :thumb:I want to see how it fits.
I'd say he got a heck of a deal.

dklassen 05-09-2013 02:21 PM

New LJ Rubi in 2006. AEV Hiline kit. Beefed up Axles. New Hemi, tcase, trans. All the labor. 35 inch tires and wheels. Suspension lift.

$74k to a lawyer is chump change.

viperx6x9x 05-09-2013 04:43 PM

Good deal on the jeep with all those extras. I think the lawyer overpaid though. I would like to see pics of the engine and tranny setup too, curious how all that looks in there.

I wish i had the 20k to throw down on anything right now, the 7k I paid for my stock TJ hurt my bank account. :) It's been fun working on it though.

Cons_Table 05-09-2013 04:52 PM

Tell your buddy Ill buy it off of him for 25k ;) he will be 5000 richer than when he started.

ou812 05-09-2013 05:45 PM

Wow I just visited the AEV site
They offer build prices
$48,000 jk hemi packages
Just the hemi swap is $21,000 for the 5.7
6.4 is $28,000

I think he has the 5.7 cause he said it has 360hp
