girlfriends got the jeep fever.

OK so I've had my jeep for 6 months now and ever since I got it, my girlfriend wants one. (A newer Cherokee to be exact). Its a 2007 jeep grand Cherokee 4.7 v8 with 70k miles. Runs and drives great and is very clean. My question to y'all is, have you ever owned one or heard how reliable they are? The asking price is 10k. What do y'all think?

Have you checked the kbb value? The 4.7 v8 is a gas guzzler though.

I think get her a 4 cyl to play with..if she aint crawling rocks higher than the kerb.

PS: did you just get busted by putting "girlfriendS" in the title? ::rofl::

Find a used wrangler and get her in that. She will like it more, she can take her top off... I mean the top on the jeep off.

No!, she can't get a wrangler. There will be only one money pit allowed in this relationship! She wants something more like a newer Cherokee and similar SUVs, she really wants an h3 but I told her of she gets an hummer, it better be big enough to haul all her stuff! :)

I have seen the 4.7 get better gas mileage than the 4.0 on three different WJ's

We have a 2007 Grand Cherokee with the 4.7. It gets about 15 in the city and about 17 on the interstate (can't keep it below 80 - :whistling: ) We bought it new and have put 50k on the odo and about 70k overall (tow it behind the motor home). The only problems we have had is the water pump went out earlier this year and it needed a new battery. We have done some off-roading with it - mostly forest service roads but it has kept up with a stock Wrangler in some rougher terrain! I'd rather the Wrangler for fun, but the grand is a good all around SUV.

Brother and daughter both had/have grand cherokees and they served them well. Daughter had only minor problems and traded at about 150K miles. I have a JK and jeep tough trails with friends who have a 2004 Grand Cherokee and they go everywhere we go only we go first so they can choose a better line if necessary.

Thanks for the input. We went and looked at a couple and couldn't find one with low miles and not trashed. One guy told me oil was changed 12k ago like it was a good thing... She's on the ford edge kick. Went and test drove it, and I was really impressed with it! She's just worried she'll look like a old lady.(She's 20)

I suggest using edmunds appraise a car feature. It will show you private party, dealer and trade in prices. Little bit lower than kbb. Show it to private party and it will make good negotiating tool.
