2012 Sahara 2dr Tow Points (South Africa)

Hi there...

I dont have a hitch and my Sahara is i think the european type (no front bumper tow hooks)

I did not get a tow package or anything like that.

What are my options for front and back tow points? Besides a hitch/winch for recovery?

For a rear tow point I'd suggest buying a hitch. They are about $100 on quadratec. You could also buy the factory hook that mounts to the frame or the older one(07-09?) that mounted to the crossmember where the hitch goes. If you PM them here they do free shipping to the US and maybe they will ship free to you.

For the front you may need to do some engineering. It looks like the bumper has the normal JK bumper but just connects the bumpers to the fenders. I'm imagining it connects to the frame the same way tho. If you cut out little holes like the US bumper has you could probably put the US hooks in it. Do you have little dimples on top of your bumper where the bumper meets the frame?

thanks very much for the reply!

My bumper does not have the dents in front but i was actually thinking of trying to get hold of the hooks and cut/put them in myself..

Will pm Quadratech thanks for the idea!

Or maybe i will order the older hooks and see if they can be fitted!

I have hooks in my garage. If you pm me your address, I will find out how much to ship to you. You pay shipping, and you can have them. One has some silver paint from a Toyota on it, but I'm sure you could clean it off and touch it up.

You should have a tie down point in the rear left side under the bumper. There is also a front tie down ring under the front bumper on the right side. I have used both for pulling the jeep out of a stuck position. I have also pulled others out as well with the rear. I do not recommend using them as a permanent solution since they are weak. And I think designed for shipping the vehicle. The Euro front bumper does not have the hooks on top of the bumper, but you can modify the bumper cover if you get a set of factory hooks. I did modify my front bumper to use the U.S. upper hooks on the front. I also added a rear receiver hitch (bolt on). I have replaced the front bumper entirely now and added a winch.

Thanks so much!! @ americonium

Cheers for the reply Brad, Thats exactly what my bumper looks like without the cutout holes. Im going to see what my options are and perhaps my dealer has hooks (stock) like those.

Once i save up enough the front and back stock bumper will be changed asap :D

I cut those holes myself. It is a pain to get them correct. The bumper is also slightly taller than the US model so the hooks did not stick out that high. I barely had enough room to put a shackle on them. It is just hollow plastic, so ti is easy to drill/cut.

I recommend changing the bumper out when you can like I did. Just check the local laws before you spend the cash. Good luck!!

Yea looked at a few tutorials on cutting and placing hooks and your advice on waiting for a better bumper sounds good!
