Help! Advice on 2013 Jeep Unlimited Sahara

I am not sure if I am posting this in the right section so sorry if it is not, I am new to this forum. I had a few questions about buying a new 2013 Jeep Wrangler Unlimited Sahara. I currently have a 2010 F-150 with a 6inch lift on 35s. A lifted Ford truck is all I have ever owned so I need some serious help with some questions on the Jeep. I went to the local dealership yesterday and seemed to talk to a guy pretty knowledgeable on lifted jeeps but I am not to sure. I am looking for someone to shed some light on my choices to trade my truck in.

My first question is I was told that even with a 4in lift and 35s on a new 2013 Wrangler Unlimited Sahara I would still get a combo of 18mpg, I find this hard to believe since my truck only gets 12mpg and I have a chip and many upgrades into it. Is this MPG correct? If not what is the avg?

My next question is I see a lot of people talking about changing the gearing and all this if they want to lift the Jeep, is this normal? I only ever had to throw a lift and tires on my trucks when lifted.

I also talked to the salesman about the ride of a lifted Jeep. He said the ride is very good now with no road noise since they are now triple sealed. I am not expecting it to ride like a dream but would still not like to get beat to death as I make about a 3 hour drive once to twice a month?

Lastly I would be switching from a large truck to a smaller vehicle with no truck bed. I do not do a lot of hauling but like to surf and throw stuff in the back of the truck occasionally. If anyone has made this switch and could let me know there feelings that would be awesome?

Thanks and hope to get a lot of help on these questions from people who really know what they are talking about and are not just trying to sell me one off the lot.

I would expect closer to 16mpg but 18 is probably doable. too many variables to say for sure. I'm on 3.5in of lift with 37" tires, 3.73's, I get 16.5 when I am being good.

gearing is for tires. not for lift. bigger tires is essentially changing your gear ratio. you will want to adjust your differential ratios to compensate. If you are buying a jeep, look for one with 3.73 ratio. 4.10 is even better.

ride all depends on type of lift, shocks used, but mostly the tires. my 37's arent too much fun and forget going over 80.

I doubt you will get a combo of 18. I'm stock and 18 is what I hope to get on the highway. If geared correctly, and the wheels are not too heavy, maybe 16? 14 in the city, 18 on the highway?

I have a 2013 Sahara Unlimited with 3.73 gearing running on 35x12.5x17 mud tires and a 3" lift.

I average 17.3 mpg if I stay under 70 mph. I do about 70% highway driving in my JK.

If I stay under 60 mph I got up to an average of 18 mpg before.

Regearing and recalibrating the speedo really helped.
