Smittybilt Fender Flares

Anybody out there running these? Just ordered some and look forward to putting them on. They will be coupled with the stock front bumper and VDP end caps shorty conversion. Pics, comments and advice on installation would be great!

Picking mine up tonight after work. Hoping they wont be to much hassle to put on, but for the price they are hard to pass up. Will have to compare notes on how the install went.

That would be awesome. I'm not expecting to get mine for a while since I live in AK. Keep this thread alive and post pics of the install. I would appreciate it. Oh yeah, do you have a lift or on stock suspension?

Disconnected 05-10-2013 05:40 PM

Will post before, during and after for ya and anything I may come across during install. Heard they sometimes dont fit up just right, but will address that as I go. Im sitting on a 3in lift currently

OffRoadCam09 05-10-2013 05:42 PM

looking forward to seeing the results. im thinking these of the rugged ridge flat fenders

I was looking at these to buy them a few weeks ago. I believe they are a great deal. But I'm debating whether to get these or just the stock plastic ones shorter and flatter.

The install is rather easy. The only issue comes from cutting the inner fender liner if you want to keep it, but that can be done easy with large scissors, sawzall or dremel.

OffRoadCam09 05-13-2013 01:52 PM

Anybody install these yet? How was it? Any problems?

4WDBRIAN 05-13-2013 04:30 PM

I have them on my JK....You will lose your inner fender liners unless you do some cutting on the factory liners to keep them. I did find that the inner fenders Rugged Ridge offers for the flares will work with these flares too, it just takes a little work for a clean install. Let me know if you need more information.

Thanks mainly was looking into if there is any drilling or such with these? I was between these or the rugged ridge, would prefer to have fender liners so ill figure a way to make that work

These fenders look really nice.. Id imagine that you would want to hit them with a can of bedliner and prepare for a pain in the ass install, but I could be wrong.

gsn 05-13-2013 10:34 PM

You would have to cut the liners just as you would with the bushwacker as far as i know. Installation is just bolt on.

I knew to cut the liners, but it is good to hear they are just bolt on

I plan on posting pics of my install as I go along. I know that's why there's directions but hell, I'm gonna do it anyway. I plan on getting them sometime next week so if anyone out there is interested to see how they turn out, check back here in a couple of weeks!

Thanks bro. I'll buy you a beer and some tacos!

tnjeeptj 05-17-2013 11:15 PM

I'm thinking about purchasing these too so I'm looking forward to your pics. I'm curious to know how easy it is to mod the wheel well shroud after the stocker fenders are removed. I'd really like to keep some material in this area to protect from the elements.

13jwrangler 05-18-2013 09:17 PM

It's going to be a little while before I get the fenders. I decided to put these off for a while but I still plan on getting them. Once I have them installed I will post pics and write a detailed review.

OffRoadCam09 05-27-2013 11:55 PM

OffRoadCam09 06-05-2013 04:20 AM

Just letting everyone know I got the flares yesterday an they were packaged very well, each individually wrapped an also did a test fit an each lined up correctly. They seem to be fully bolt on so shouldn't take long at all after the removal of the factory flares. Will be doing the install this weekend so ill chime in again then

13jwrangler 06-05-2013 11:16 PM

Sweet deal man. I'm glad you followed up like you said you would. I can't wait to see them installed!

OffRoadCam09 06-09-2013 01:42 PM

Having back problems an have been able to move much so install is having to wait till next weekend sorry to disappoint. Will still post some pics of the flares if I get a chance

13jwrangler 06-10-2013 10:14 AM

Word. Sounds good man. I'll be getting mine pretty soon hopefully.

OffRoadCam09 06-10-2013 10:21 AM

I'll post a few pics of the flares. They also say in the directions that you may have to enlarge some of the mounting holes slightly an that the factory fender liners will work with some modification

Just got out of body shop after rear end by a DUI. Had them upgrade my fenders. I didn't install them but body shop guy said they are pretty easy. If you want to keep your liners you'll have to do some trimming. But I like them off.

OffRoadCam09 06-15-2013 05:53 PM

Alright here we go guys. Very simple install. the front are all bolt on and the rear have 2 bolts then you have to drill 5 small holes and use self tapping screws.
