The wires going to the first O2 sensor were pulled tight thru a wire guide. This is under the steering shaft on the drivers side.

Here we go, didn't realize my phone didn't upload either pic.

It's hard to see in the first photo, but it is right above the steering shaft, that is the black shaft in the second photo.

I just went out and looked at mine. It's the same way ( 2011). That's just the way it is.

There is zero play in the wire leading to the upstream O2 sensor so any flex will stress the connection

The steering shaft should not be moving there, only rotating.

Not attached to the shaft, runs from sensor thru wire management, into larger harness, there just isn't any room for flex
