New legal trails in northern virginia

I heard some talk about legal trails opening in the Woodbridge area? Any one have any news on that?

chris.weber02 05-11-2013 05:47 AM

Nope where did you hear that from, that would be great

Gladi8r 05-11-2013 05:47 AM

Yes...But, for right now you need to know somebody who knows the land owner to gain access...The trails are not open to the public for now...

chris.weber02 05-11-2013 06:24 AM

So who knows the owner lol

convict27 05-11-2013 10:03 AM

If anyone finds out I would definitely be down. Been wanting to meet up with some local Jeepers.

chris.weber02 05-11-2013 10:06 AM

Sketchy, yea if this is actually legit lemme know ,no one needs a ticket today

SHYUperman 05-11-2013 12:37 PM

Word on the street is that the trails will open to the public in June. I believe it'll be a pay per use situation.

chris.weber02 05-11-2013 12:45 PM

So the question is can we wheel them today

BillF 05-11-2013 04:10 PM

Looking at the google maps, the only thing behind the best buy are power lines. Some trail type stuff, but not sure what else might be there. Is this the area you guys are talking about? Would be great if there was a place to go less than 3hrs away...

c3j3gable 05-13-2013 02:40 PM

I went and checked it out today, somebody is using it. there are muddy tracks leaving the trail.

chris.weber02 05-13-2013 04:03 PM

How hard was it to find

Not at all, it's actually closer to the Ale House than Best Buy, but it is the same area. Here's a google map screen shot.

Also, has anybody heard of the Cardinal Swamps? Found this link to their Facebook group. Right off Cardinal near Bonita Fitzgerald I think.

chris.weber02 05-13-2013 04:39 PM

So I'm guessing these are the guys trying to make it open to the public

c3j3gable 05-13-2013 04:56 PM

Hope so, there aren't any signs saying no entry or anything. I just don't like to go on unfamiliar trails without a partner.

chris.weber02 05-13-2013 05:07 PM

I have been to a set of trails off cardinal drive there was no signs there either, it would be nice if some one that actually knew what this was all about would chime in lol

sgtkersh 05-13-2013 05:14 PM

Cardinal Swamps is 100% illegal and a dumping ground for stolen cars. Beware, this is not a place you should play at. The other area is supposedly under development by someone who is going to open it up for pay for use. It's all chatter right now though - none of the forum threads I've seen actually had the owner piping in. Just people who supposedly have helped and/or been invited to wheel. Hopefully it's the real deal.

The swamps are awesome not what it used to be but still a challenge

ltdanyj 05-13-2013 09:10 PM

Why not be respectful and wait until the owner opens the trails up to the public? He's getting close, and all that people trespassing will do is delay it for the rest of us...
