the 2.5L will last as long as you keep it serviced.

My 4 bangers seems to be ok. Struggles going uphill in a headwind but its all good, I just downshift.

I have only driven my Jeep with the 6 cylinder, but have watched the 4 bangers keep up on the trail without any issues.

My 2.5 will go anywhere I want it to go.

great motor, great offroad, mine cruises 75 on highway with the wind behind me, but uphill it struggles a bit. nothing downshifting can compensate for. if i were to buy again id go with the 4.0 but nothing against the 2.5, its a jeep not a corvette

A friend of mine has one. Good motor but can be a little under power at Some points

It is what it is. I drive my son's a lot. No issues with it. The gears are set up nicely so that if you need a little extra umph, going to 4th will do it.

They will go anywhere. You're not going to be winning any races (not that you will with the 6 cyl either), but it'll go wherever you want.

I'm lovin my 95 2.5

I reluctantly have a 2.5. Offroad, does fine. On-road, even after re-gear, not awesome.

I"m loving mine. DD and off-road toy. Took it to Uwharrie this past weekend and even with the rain, she made a very impressive show. I am totally happy with it.
I had a 304 V8 in my Scrambler a while back. Comparatively, they are two different animals, and yes, I'd rather have a V8  haha, but this 4-banger gets twice the mileage on-road and with the 410 gearing, eats up the trails too!
