600? where the hell do YOU buy them?

the last time i checked ebay, they were like 40 bucks more expensive than regular.

every person on here that has installed one says its definitely noticeable

Jrzymilitia
how will Jersey law know if u gut it out? Or do they still do the tailpipe sniffer test?

Giancarlo 12-21-2008 02:40 PM

If gutting your cat will cause your jeep to not pass inspection, chances are a highflow cat will do the same thing.

Giancarlo 12-21-2008 02:48 PM

yeah most new wranglers have 2 to 3 cats anyways

Jrzymilitia 12-21-2008 03:53 PM

Well I was runing a straight pipe to it and failed inspection for it..So im assuming Punching out a cat would just be the same thing. I failed For emissions

Jrzymilitia 12-21-2008 03:55 PM

Hey triple I was looking on ebay but I cant find one..Can u link one please

Jerry Bransford 12-21-2008 04:06 PM

Low flow cats sound great in theory but in reality, they don't help. Reducing the designed-in backpressure of an exhaust system can often actually cause a loss of power, not a gain.

this is kind of what I was thinking...

Gutting a cat can be worse for flow, it creates all kinds of turbulence in the chamber and actually decreases exhaust flow. Sounds cool though lol

Magnaflow + Flowmaster Super44 = Awesome

I had to replace my complete exhaust system - rusted badly...

I purchased the Magnaflow Cat, with downpipe (for '97 4.0 TJ) plus the Flowmaster Super44 Muffler with tailpipe from an ebay vendor (performance-curve). The downpipe and cat are stainless and fit perfectly. The Super44 fit fine, but the tailpipe took a little 'manipulating' to finally get it installed.

I am extremely happy with both the sound AND the performance. No regrets. The Super44 is extremely rugged as I have bashed it on the rocks several times with no affect (except for dislodging the hanger from the tail pipe).

We don't have inspection here in Alabama, so I can't say what the results of the exhaust breath-a-lyzer would be....

Not true. Myself and many, many others have used high flow cats and they will pass emissions. I have them on my Mustang with a nicely modified engine and non emission friendly cam and it passes the roller test in NJ.

Would I bother putting them on the Jeep......NO.
