no doors

Im new to the jeep world so this may be a dumb question. when my doors are off how do you get the radio to power off when you turn the jeep off or am i stuck using the power button??

SuperTJ 05-13-2013 03:54 PM

On my 2010 when I took them off. I had to unplug the door and it times out.

DFW6ER 05-13-2013 03:58 PM

Not sure what year your jeep is, OP. But mine (2012) will automatically turn off after 5 minutes or so..but you can go into the menu from the steeringwheel inputs and manually adjust the amount of time you want it to stay on. Or you can just manually push the power button.

The doors are unplugged and there is no change and i really don't like walking away from it with the radio playing seems like advertising to thieves

ltlbigfoot 05-13-2013 04:44 PM

You can change the settings to shut off right away- it's under personal settings

brian d 05-13-2013 04:50 PM

This. I set mine to 45 seconds. It usually takes me that long to get out.

Now to just stop hitting the lock button on the keyfob and letting the horn chip, it must make me look stupid.

I don't care how it looks...I do it because the rear storage compartment is where I keep my mini ratchet with my Torx bits and torx screws for my doors and top and unless I lock it, any Tom, Dick or Harry can open the tail gate and be off with those things.

Is this for all model jk's? Just wondering since I have never really looked through it an messed with it on my 13 sport since it is pretty much as basic as it gets.

The digital information center. The thing that lets you look at temp, compass, mpg, dist to empty etc etc. it's in that menu system

nwbronco 05-13-2013 05:08 PM

It is the EVIC, and if you do not have the buttons on the steering wheel for it. Then disregard the comments about it.

Just did first oil change on jeep how do i get the change oil light on the dash to go off??

dadrunamok 08-02-2013 09:34 PM

The radio will turn itself off after a time. But, I mean, you took the time to unplug the wiring harness, buy a T45 and unscrew the hinge nuts, undo the little nylon strap and store the doors. To my mind, having to push the button to turn off the radio is not that big of a deal.

cory v - I'm pretty sure the oil change turn-off is the same on all JKs: turn the key to "on" (without starting the Jeep) and then push the accelerator to the floor three times within ten seconds. Turn off the key and turn it back on. Your oil change light should be off.

MrSig 08-03-2013 04:09 AM

On my 07 it turns off after 90 seconds.

eightshb 08-03-2013 05:35 AM

Driver information center. (DIC)

Scott2373 08-03-2013 10:12 AM

There are two versions of the EVIC (Electronic Vehicle Information Center) available. One only displays Temp/Dir, DTE, and Fuel Economy and is in standard digital (think alarm clock) format. The other one came with the Power Convenience Package (Power windows/locks etc.) This one is in Dot Matrix format and allows for the changing of settings and various other functions along with the above stated functions.

michiganadam 08-03-2013 10:18 AM

on my 08 it turns off after 2 minutes or so.

My question is how can i get the dome light to come on when i open the door when they're ON? and the radio thing? Previous owner did...something. .. to it.

sparky 08-03-2013 10:22 AM

^ Put fuse #4 back in.
