"Hood Gap" Normal?

I was looking at a TJ, and it seems that the area around where the hood hinges to the body (near the windshield) there was an unusually wide gap at that point. There was a rubber gasket there, but it still seemed like that gap shouldn't have been that wide. The hood latched completely, but that gap didn't seem right.

Is this normal, or does this area weaken with time?
It appeared that the hinges were on snug. They weren't bent, loose or cracked.

I wish I had taken a few pictures of that area to better illustrate what I am talking about.

No that area doesn't weaken with age, within reason of course, so that sounds normal to me. These are Jeeps, they are rather crude in many ways when compared to cards. :)

I know what you are talking about as I recently noticed a similar issue. Upon closer inspection I realized that the drivers side hinge has a wider gap between the leafs forcing a wider gap at the seam. I am going to attempt to push the hood back about 1/8' on that side to even the gap.

If that's the only thing you're concerned about with that jeep, you should probably buy it.

Here is a picture of a friend's TJ.

You can see how the gap is wider than the door jamb. But Jerry B. said this is normal, so I'm not gonna let that stop me from considering it.

I was just worried that it might have been in an accident, & someone kinda pieced it back together.

(I hope I attached the picture correctly.)

The gap on the one I looked at was a lot wider than my friend's Jeep.

Wrench marks or rust on the bolt heads, look for them. Its a dead give away.

Sorry about the double post (#5 & 6).
I was posting from my phone, and got mixed up with the buttons.
