Storing soft top windows inside your Jeep

How is everyone storing them? I like the idea of keeping them with me but don't want them getting beat up.

WhiteCloak 05-16-2013 11:24 PM

I think them getting beat up is pretty inevitable.

Keep a soft cloth between them and they will be fine, and roll them, never fold them!

Agreed. But it can be delayed if you try.

I suggest the clover patch. Quadratec sells it.

I have two huge pieces of fleece that I keep with me. They are basically the size of blankets. I rolled up the rear window and tailgate bar in one, and I roll the side windows up in the other. I make sure to dust the windows off first, and I make sure that the windows never touch when rolled, as there is always fleece between them. I stashed my rear window between my Tuffy enclosure and rear seat, and I stashed the side windows in the Tuffy enclosure.

clover patch window roll

I made my own storage. Got a few yards of felt. Cut into four equal rectangles. Sewed together along one long side. Attached 2 straps with quick release buckles. All three windows have a protected slot and I just roll it up and clip. Basically just like the commercial storage solutions but cost less than $20. I keep the roll right against the bottom of the backseats. Works great. I don't put the tailgate bar in the roll...

A children's single bed sheet set is a perfect size.

I have to try something like this... I bought the Rugged Ridge bag. It isn't long enough for the side windows and an addendum in the instructions basically said to fold the windows at one end.

I'm not going to do that or fold my windows against the C channel direction. I want to be able to leave my rear window bar on and roll the side windows longways. Is the Clover Patch bag big enough to do that, or do I have to make something?

Thanks folks! I might give the Clover Patch system a try.

I just stack the side windows on top of each other and slide them under the rear seat (2dr). I roll the back window up and sit it in the back seat.

igivup 05-17-2013 02:30 PM

I lay mine flat, with a piece of material between each window, and slide them under a false floor I built in the back of my Jeep 2 door. They stay pristine, and I don't lose any valuable floor space!
I think I posted pics of the setup on here a while back.

Clover Patch for me, 4 different Jeeps now and my windows have remained in great shape on all 4.

michiganadam 05-17-2013 06:25 PM

I roll mine up and shove them in the folded top and put a rope around it to make sure they cant fly out. They get scratched but meh. They get scratched just from existing also.

MOPAR even provides special straps to roll the back window up, so i dont know how thats any better than what im doing...

what happens if you use those window rolls on the sand dunes?

Not sure what you're implying here? ... just curious.

I asked a serious question, thats all. That's the only reason I haven't bought one. Sand sure manages to get into everything else. Obviously my solution would damage them in sand as well. I stick em in my cooler then... hehe.

BigManAndy 05-17-2013 06:48 PM

I keep it simple. I lay them side by side, a little overlapping and leaning on the side of the tub a little. Put the rear JEEP floor mat soft side down on top of them to sorta act as a anchor. It helps not having a back seat in, this method won't work with it installed.

I made an oversize window book/ bag that all FIVE of my windows fit inside (soft uppers as well) I still use it with my Frameless NX and it lays in the tub....when I had a backseat I stored it between the backseat and the tailgate...can post pics if anyone cares....windows never folded or rolled

I'd love to see it! Post it up. I'm a new Jeeper and just trying to get ideas on how to bring them along with me when the tops down. I want to protect my investment & make these windows last as long as possible. Thanks.

Here we go a few pics...nothing fancy, material from Walmart, and a local tailor shop....they usually charge about $20 bucks......my window bag has the windows from my NX Frameless inside of it...and I put my Uppers in the JK window bag for demonstration purposes.....the JK has the Blu "pages".....she picked the color..and she usually drives it.

The odd little piece of plastic window on my duster is my window from my wraparound jammer...like the jammer for the rain..but want the air flow for the days when it is "IFFY" so velcro on the window grab it and tear it off...there is a piece of mesh to keep it from blowing out at speed......
