Broken 2.4L

:confused:Toasted the motor in my jeep due to the P-Os cold air intake working as a cold water intake when crossing a puddle:facepalm:. My jeep is a 2005 2.4L with a 6sp tranny. having a hard time finding a motor in my price range up here in maine. $1500. is there an easy swap out to a different engine or an easier way to find a 2.4L. wouldn't think it would be a hard motor to find as I think they use the same in the dodge neon?

Well the 2.4 in the neons was the same basic motor, but all the 2.4s in the neons were turboed.
The liberty (KJ) use the sane 2.4 as our TJ's.

anyone know where one might be, have one for sale?

Turboed?
Wouldn't that be a plus???

Or, is there a downside to the turbo that I don't see?

Also, I don't mean to sound stupid, but, isn't the engine in a Dodge Neon a sideways motor? If so, how hard is it to attach it to the tranny in a Jeep?

The turbo is defiantly a plus to me! All you would have to do to take a motor out of neon is turn it 90* and bolt it up!

Idk about to bolting up but if you were to get the whole srt4 and use the harness and ecu that could be a mean jeep. I smell a new trend on WF cooking up

While that is true I have never seen a Liberty with a 2.4. They have all been 3.7's.

I'm not an expert, but a transverse engine drive train is completly different than a similar RWD vehicle. I'm believe the problem would be mating the existing tranny to the engine which is designed for a completly different drive system.

Is block bad?

The block is the same for the Jeep 2.4 and the SRT 2.4, just different internals. Since the block it the same itll bolt to the trans in the Jeep.
