Help! Coolant's leaking everywhere...
 
I woke up this morning, drove to get some coffee, came home and there was coolant pouring out from under the Jeep. I'm not entirely sure what the correct name for it is, but I think it's coming from around the oil pan (?) which doesn't make much sense to me... but I'm hoping it's as simple as getting a new seal and throwing it on.

From the pics it looks like oil not coolant. If it is coolant open radiator cap and fill it up start engine and look for leak. If it is pouring out it is more likely a hose or water pump. But could be a hole in radiator. Radiators usually seep rather than pour unless it has been hit by something.

It's not oil, it was the typical bright green all the way around. It's not quite pouring out, but it's definitely leaking at a fast pace, but what I'm confused about is why I'm leaking coolant from the areas in the pictures above... All radiator hoses check out, snug, tight, and they're fairly new.

It's impossible to actually leak coolant from those locations. Most likely, your water pump is leaking and the coolant is running "down and around."

Thanks, yea I just spent some time on it. Took the hose off, it was fine, replaced the "pressure clamps" with the screw kind, refilled with water to test and it's still leaking. I think you're right though, it's just leaking from where the lower radiator hose goes to the engine. Is that a bad water pump?

It's very common for a water pump leak to make it appear that the lower hose is leaking. I would suggest removing the water pump pulley for a better look.

Awesome. Well not really, but thanks everyone, based on what I've found online as well as some pictures, it sounds like my pump just went bad. Thank you!

When the water pump goes bad, it usually starts leaking from its weep hole on the front. That's almost a sure bet your leak is coming from there.

I just had a similar problem. It is very likely the water pump, based on the coolant showing up just under the main pulley/timing cover----but check all of your hose clamps very closely and while the engine is running and the system is therefore under pressure. Any pinhole hose leak or weeping from the waterpump will show itself.

Also, be very careful about those worm-drive clamps, especially at the pint where the water pump connects to the lower radiator hose. For example, after I replaced my water pump, I was still mysteriously leaking coolant (not from the pump) and found that the worm-drive clamp I used on the lower radiator hose to water pump connection was weeping at the connection/clamp.

Found the clamp was not seating well enough to clamp with enough force to seal the connection. Had to reseat the clamp several times to get it "just right" and also put some silicone sealant on the connection and add another worm drive clamp to seal the connection sufficiently. To be honest, the OEM pressure type clamp did a better job and I regret throwing it away in favor of the worm-drive clamp.

Because of where the fluid is located, check your freeze plugs. They are known to go bad over time. If thats not the case, check both radiator hoses under pressure. It does look like radiator fluid.

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I'm in the middle of replacing it right now. The seal had deteriorated so badly, it was almost non existent...
