I guess this is goodbye

hey guys, its week 3 (day 21) of my hospital stay at St. Barnabas after almost losing my life in a car accident with my beloved baby Gregg the jeep. I had just past the one year mark with it and had invested so much of my time and hard work in to it. I loved it so much
On April 29th i was stopped at a red light on a 2 lane highway when i was hit by a driver going 50 mph from behind. My jeep did a 360 through traffic hit a divider and immediately set fire with me inside it, Luckily i was pulled out by a good samaritan but sustained 2nd and 3rd degree burns on my face arms and back. I have had many skin grafts and can finally use my fingers and hands to type and access my phone, but i am far from healed and recovery is expected to take 18 months but i am looking to the future and still going to enjoy my life to the fullest.

My jeep was assessed for a great price at $19k and that is definitely a plus, but i could never put a price on that thing its a jeep thing and i loved every minute being in it

Here is a link to pictures, do not bother reading that trash article, they quoted me and i wasnt even conscious and they did not acknowledge the fact i was at a red light (that is me on the ground)

LoveJiuJitsu 05-18-2013 07:49 PM

Very sorry to hear about the Jeep, but very happy you are still here to even be posting on this forum.

50 mph????! Sounds like a lawsuit to me.

Hook Moore 05-18-2013 07:51 PM

Thank goodness you survived. Relax and recover..

vtjohn 05-18-2013 09:13 PM

Hope you recover quickly. Wonder how many vehicles can stand up to a 50 MPH rear-ender? Glad you made it, keep on moving forward!

Pennsyman 05-18-2013 09:19 PM

Yikes! Get well soon!!

cmaggi2 05-18-2013 09:22 PM

Wranglin4Life 05-19-2013 08:36 AM

Those pics look very serious. I am very happy you are still with us and on the path to recovery. Hope things get better for you soon!

Justin.mulroy 05-19-2013 02:07 PM

thanks for the kind words everyone. Yes legal action will be happening very soon. I was very disturbed when i heard the man who hit me was released without a drug/alcohol test and was only charged with careless driving. I have my work cut out for me these next few months

KillerKustums 05-21-2013 07:45 AM

Holy crap man I'm glad your going to be getting better. Hang in there and best wishes brother.

Tweak 05-21-2013 09:23 AM

Dear lord you are lucky. Look on the bright side, you are only 18 and have plenty of time to get another one! Also, chicks dig battlescars!

SuicideSaints 05-21-2013 09:40 AM

WOW dude, I am glad you are okay. It said the guy couldn't remember what happened.... Drugs, alcohol, or fell asleep. I hope justice for you is served, good luck in the future and I hope it all works out for you.

DarrenT 05-21-2013 10:56 AM

You lucky, lucky man. You may not feel it right now with everything you're going through. But in a few years looking back, I'm sure you'll be thankful.
At the end of the day, the steel and wheels can be replaced, you can't.
Careless driving? that's the understatement of the century. Sue his ass!!

DrewG 05-21-2013 11:17 AM

Holy smokes! Damn...glad to hear you're alive! Hang in there man - here's hoping for a speedy recovery!

Dextreme 05-21-2013 11:22 AM

Can you imagine being in a miata, prius, or a smart car and getting hit that hard? Probably would not be able to post about it afterwards.

tabber02 05-21-2013 11:23 AM

get well soon Justin. i look forward to catching up with you in that new JKUR you're after! :D

Justin.mulroy 05-21-2013 05:30 PM

JKUR or a decked out FJ cruiser, my neighbor is a huge Toyota dealer and he would give me a killer deal.. It really kills me to have to leave the jeep family it's been great to me

00tj2 05-21-2013 08:27 PM

Glad to hear that you are well enough to communicate. Best wishes to you for a speedy recovery. As far as your future decision on a mode of transportation... I haven't driven the FJ but I think it is a very good looking rig and I have seen some hold their own off road. As for the Jk, I love them but man are they expensive!!!! Again, best wishes with your recovery.

ratchettt 05-22-2013 11:25 AM

Evian 05-23-2013 12:28 AM

With time you will heal. Get back on that horse as soon as you can. This time buy a full size horse with 1/2" rolled steel bumpers with 2 feet clearance. I would suggest a full size 1979 Dodge Ramcharger. It comes with a removable top. I picked up one for my teenage son. I was afraid someone would run into him so I picked up the toughest 4x4 I could find. Never regretted it. Stay safe my friend.

These bumpers weigh over 300Ibs.
