Signal switch

I've been pricing out a new signal switch, and have yet to find one under $150. I took it apart this morning just to find it's attached to the wiper switch too (why would they do that?), and that's why it's so pricey.

The reason I'm replacing it is because there's a short somewhere that makes the factory fog lights flash when you hit a bump or wiggle the switch, even when the headlights are off. I ended up taking the fog lights off until I can get a new switch.

Has this happened to anyone else before?

What year is your jeep? I replaced both the turn signal switch and wiper switch on my 97. On mine they are separate switches. You can look in the for sale section for someone parting out a jeep. Also the neon has the same switch except the hazard switch is shaped slightly differently. The neon ones can be fairly prevalent in junkyards. However if It were me before I spent the $$ I would remove the switch and shoot it full of electronic contact cleaner and blow it out with an air compressor or canned air duster. It may help things out.

Yes. It's not a short, it's the switch for the fogs not acting right. Mine would come on when the lever reset right after a turn. Just replaced mine today for $65. The wiper lever is not part of it, it's just screwed on to it. Call autozone, ask for part number SW3135. Lifetime warranty. Thank me later.
