Framless VS. Hardtop? Please Help

Well my hardtop (2 piece smittybilt) was destroyed in the recent tornado's in my area, and i decided to go ahead and make an insurance claim. Insurance only coverd it for $1600 bucks, not the 2400 that it costs to replace it :banghead:. So, I was thinking of just going with the bestop trektop nx. Any input with experience and possible vs. the rampage frame less? I'd just like some healthy input on the topic... Thanks in advance!

I run a Trektop NX on my JK and I love it. It's by far the best top I have owned. It fits tight and doesn't flap around much at all. Compared to a hardtop, you will notice differences between them and soft tops. They don't insulate as well, and you'll get more noise inside the cab.

If you are dead set on a hardtop, check Craigslist and the forum classifieds. People are always trying to sell hardtops. Especially around this time when people want to have a soft top.

Hope this helps! Please shoot me a PM if you have any questions or want me to hook you up with our Wrangler Forum Discounts!

If u are thinking u want to try a softtop and unacceptable a hard top keep in mind u will need other parts like the windshield channel and door surrounds that a hard top does not need but the softtops do. I just got a softtopper and love it. Plus it comes with the windshield channel, door surrounds, and it is made in America. Went on really slick and since it is frameless we saved several bucks not having to get the frame. Just on our second removal but I think in another go or two we will have it down to less than a five minute install with no problem. Just need to learn the proper sequence to do things in.
