I have a 2000 TJ, 4.0 L , 5 spd. My check engine light just came on yesterday. Almost instantly it began to feel like the engine was "cutting out" at higher revs. I took my Jeep to Autozone, they hooked up their computer, the computer read Throttle Position Sensor. I promptly purchased it, and reinstalled the new one, but I am still getting the same code, I disconnected the battery, trying to clear it out, but the same thing pops up on the computer. Any suggestions?? Please help!

Did Autozone cancel the code out for you? They will do that, if you ask them to.

Yes, it's still cutting out, just not as often. After my post, I did go down to Autozone, but the computer could not get rid of the code. The computer would say it was erased, then as soon as I turned on the key the same code would come back. I looked at the wiring going to the TPS and it did not seem to be damaged that I could see. Any other ideas????

well i guess the TPS wasn't the problem...you might end up having to take it to a dealership...my sisters truck is doing the same thing cutting off...we took it to a dealership yesterday and there going to let us know the problem...i know its a truck and not a jeep but it could be the same cause so ill let you know

This is a stab in the dark........would a clogged fuel filter cause the same symptoms? If so, that would be the next thing to change out at Autozone, perhaps they can give you some guidance on this issue as well.

Thanks for any info you've given. I am going to change the fuel filter, and a tune-up. I'll try to get into the wiring going to the tps better also, maybe I missed something. I did put some fuel system cleaner in already and have run about 1/4 tank through, with no positive results yet. I'll let you know.
