Wanting to get a safari top....

and I have a few questions. I like the idea of having side windows to put in if the weather gets ugly. What do you guys think about the Trektop NX from Bestop? Is there another top I should consider? Thanks!

ive got the rampage bowless frameless top,and I love it. best money ive spent on my jeep yet.

The rampage framless has a built in pocket in the roof to store the windows.

I too have the rampage frameless, and love it. I spent the past few days running just the safari top and love having the option of putting the windows back in when they call for a week full of rain.

Thanks guys, I'll look into the rampage top.

There are several options for frameless/safari tops. Softopper is another. Do searches on all. There are lots of posts and comparisons

You have the bestop trek top nx to i am ordering that one on fri

Remember to consider if you are switching from a hard top you will need to get door surrounds, windshield channel ect to run the frameless. Tops such as trektop nx and softopper come new including all of the needed hardware, while the rampage frameless can be a cheaper option if you already have the needed hardware.

I do recommend spending the extra money for sailcloth. I'm so glad I did, its quieter and insulates a little better than the typical fabric, also it is thicker and stronger.

I have the Bestop Trektop NX. It's an awesome top. No sagging, nice and tight, good quality and pretty quiet at highway speeds.

I was considering the Rampage top too... but I was put off by most of the photos I've seen of the sloppy fit on the windshield channel and the slight sag on the top of the back window.

In my book it was worth the extra coin for the NX top.

here's a better shot of it. The windows zip in and out very quickly, but there is no pocket to carry them in like the Rampage top...

My friend has a Rampage top on his 2001 and I have Trektop NX on my 1997. I really like the pocket Rampage, but the fit isn't as good and he has had several straps snap on him and he's only had it for about a year. If they would work in a pocket into the Trektop, it would be perfect.

Here's a pic of my Trektop last week in Florida with sides off, going bikini style:

i definately say go with best top instead of rampage. i odered rampage and then got it replaced with a 2nd, both poor quaility finally just called and have a trektop on the way and the customer service for rampage is horrible. ive always ran best top in past and should have not went with any other brand. i will give my review when i get my top installed and ran for a while. i had less isues with the worn out best top than the 2 rampages ive had in the past month

x2

The rampage material looks nice/feels great but the zippers aren't of the best quality. My rear window zipper started breaking after only a month....

Thanks guys! I really like the way the trektop looks and the reports of fit and finish of it as well. Now to convince the wifey on the purchase!!!

Great looking Jeeps guys! Robert C. was the top fairly easy to put on and how would you rate it? Also Robert, icicle lights in May? Really? LOL!!!
Just messing with ya!!

Robert C. 06-02-2013 11:20 AM

From 1 to 10 i would say a 7 at first but as it warmed up its easy. It was hard to get the windsheild channel down and latched the first time. But it is supposed to be tight. I flipped back the sunrider feature last night for the first time and it was easy as pie. And putting it back was no issue. I love the look and how much you can see out of the back and side windows

That's cool! I can't wait to get mine. Just ordered it today.
