Undercariage rust!!
How can I remove my undercarriage rust? because I would still like to have a jeep in a couple years. The frame and all components pretty much have some pretty bad surface rust and some places where it is beginning to eat away. What to do!???

Well, you can get a flat head screw driver and start scraping off all the surface rust then sand the surface, mask off and spray with Rustolem or something like POR-15. Good as new!

For the rust that has already sat for a while and eaten through you can cut it out measure and cut a piece or steel and weld it in, grind it flat and spray it to look clean with black.

I've heard some stuff about the POR-15 that seems like the best option, how do you go about getting/using that stuff

Im not 100% sure, I just use Rust Oleum. I would imagine you could get it from the website though.

POR-15 is ok but I like Eastwood Rust Encapsulator much better.

POR 15 is the best product for frame restoration. I used an air chisel, wire brush and sand paper to clean the outside of the frame. I used compressed air, a telescoping magnet and a shop vac to thoroughly clean the inside of the frame. Coat the outside in POR 15, then coat the POR 15 with their chassis black to provide UV protection. Then coat the inside of the frame with the Eastwood interior frame coating product. you will be as good as new. There are several good recent threads on here about the entire process. Rust O Leum and some of the other rust encapsulators are only a temporary fix. Before and after below.

Paint scraper, media blaster and POR 15. Not an easy fix. Lots of work. For me it meant identifying one area to concentrate on, then moving to the next section. Don't get in any hurry, be thorough.
