I'm in Charlottesville, VA, and would like to have a modest lift, tires/wheels installed and possible regearing on my virtually stock TJ. Unfortunately, I don't have the space, time, or experience to perform all of the wrenching myself for this iteration. Any folks willing to recommend a good shop in the area, preferably one that specializes in lifted Jeeps? First-hand experience is always welcome.

EDIT: Would be willing to consider options in NoVA and Richmond.

Not personally, but I met a forum user at his shop of choice to buy his hi-lifts for me and a buddy. He and his wife both take theirs there for all their work. It was called Independent4X, in Ashland. I believe his name was RRTRI in this forum if you'd like to message him for a recommendation, he told me they did good work at a fair price.

You might want to give Bernie at High Tech Automotive a call. They are located in Chantilly VA. Really knowledgeable folks there and Bernie did a great job advising me on my lift, wheels, tires, bumpers, etc.

x2 on Independent4x. They are located in the Hanover Air Park right off 95. Even though they have an Ashland mailing address they are located off the Atlee/Elmont exit number 86.

Right after I purchased my used TJ I developed full blown DW. They fixed it in a day. I drive by there a lot to look at the Jeeps and trucks parked outside. There work is amazing! If I ever decide on a lift they will be the ones to do the work.

I'm planning in doing a long arm and was concerned about whether they have any real welding experience. They seem more oriented towards tune ups and oil changes and the occasional lift install.

Independent4x is great. They did the mods I didn't feel I could do which turned out to be the lift and regear on both of our Jeeps. They had a lot of great input as far as which direction to go on those items and I haven't regretted any of the choices. They also welded the kart frame for my wife's father back together and he was very happy with the job. I've seen some of the custom fab work they've done as well and it was really good IMHO. So yeah, I'm a fan and would absolutely recommend them.

Very cool. Now I'm definitely going to give Indy 4x4 a call to run through a few specifics. I've also heard that Mad Matz could be a possibility in my area. Any experience there? Again, I appreciate the suggestions and am looking forward to providing the same to future forum members.

I'm also in Charlottesville. I've heard folks recommend Mad Matz. But haven't been there yet myself.

I have not done any business with Mad Matz but I met him at the Jeep Jam at the Rockingham fairgrounds last weekend. had a good convo with him and his guys. Very knowledgeable guy. He had a competition buggy there that he built and it was BUILT, RIGHT! might be worth giving him a call.
