I have an exhaust leak of some form. Two different mechanics said it is probably the exhaust manifold. I would like to replace it with a header. I am on a budget. So, best header for around $200? Or should I go with an exhaust manifold and replace the muffler with something that sounds a little better.

What motor do you have? I believe the 4.0L stock manifolds have a tendency to crack...mine did. I had mine welded up to get me by until I can afford a set of headers, new catalytic converter and exhaust. I'm planning on getting an affordable set of headers just like your looking for but I haven't asked anyone here on the forum yet until I got closer to actually buying them. Here is what I'm leaning toward: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/rg...model/wrangler
I don't know how good these are but they are just a little more then a replacement stock manifold. I can't afford a set of Bank's or JBA's. Plus my Jeep doesn't see hardcore offroading...only dirtroad cruising, which my wife loves.
As for the cat, I'm looking at this: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mpe-23227/overview/year/1997/make/jeep/model/wrangler
And this for exhaust: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/su...model/wrangler

So I'm going through the same thing, have a brand new exhaust manifold sitting right behind me, going to install this weekend. This is probably noobish, but what is the the difference between a header and a manifold? The link you offered up above looks pretty similar to what I have, but I ordered a manifold...

The main difference is the header flows the exhaust easier. Each runner has it's own pipe...this helps the exhaust flow better, less restrictive.
