My YJ

I figured I'd make a topic for my 1993 Jeep Wrangler.

I bought it April of this year and the guy want $3600 for, talked him down to $3100. Drove her home, an amazing runner with only 120000 miles. The whole Jeep is pretty much stock and a great platform to build off of in the future.

Welcome to the Forum and the Jeep Life! I've been around JK's too long, 120K makes me cringe. :D Be sure to post pics up of the Jeep, we love seeing pics of Jeeps!

First thing I did was changed the tires and wheels. Then I painted the diamond plates on the back.

This was supposed to be like a 15 minute job. Well I ended up running into the house, eating dinner as fast as I possibly could and ran back out to primer and paint before night.

Oh yeah I'm way ahead of yea.

I've done a lot of maintenance to the 4 cylinder motor.

Oil change, New oil filter, Stabile, New Fuel filter, New battery, New set of spark plugs, Filled the "boxes" with oil, was going to cross the tires but figured just give it a new set of "Wildcats" for now. Them tires hum like honey bees down the road.

The guy before me that owned it took great care of his rigs so I haven't had to do much to it besides maintenance. I got a steal of a deal tho, has title, smog certificate and he gave me a bill of sale for $500 so California won't tax me more then $50.

Already went to the DMV and am about to get it smoged so the title will fully be in my name.

Lol. I've drove at least 150 miles with it. And yes I live in the middle of no where.

love livin en la media de la nada... Ohio has strict smog by county. emissions first.po lived in county that doesnt test,so i am downpipe back before i get plates...

indirocz28 05-23-2013 05:45 PM

I DO NOT recommend Smittybilt soft tops. There is one on mine, and while the fit and quality is good, it sucks to even try to attach or remove. There are frames bolted inside the jeep along the roll bars that that the top has to button to and some slide lock things at the front corners, and... Well it just sucks. The Bestop ones look SOOO much easier to deal with.

RevCo666 05-23-2013 05:49 PM

OP: what is in the middle of the two front tow hooks on the bumper? I can't make it out...

Same here, I live so up north I don't even know what smog looks like until I drive 5 hours south lol No emmisions testing for me BUT if I had to have one done, I would pass with flying colors as it was done just prior to my purchase since its mandatory when selling a vehicle in large communities (as to which is where I bought it).

It's a hitch of some sorts. I don't really know to much but a buddy of mine said it's for either pulling boats out of the water via boat trailer or it's for towing behind an RV.

I have the same prob on my 95, haven't addressed it yet, but I hope mine turns out half as nice as yours.

Take a razor blade and go to town on the old nasty duck tape that I believe mine was on since the 90's. After that get some really ruff sand paper and sand it down tell most of the sticky stuff is gone.

Primer the rust after sanding that as well then paint, booyeah! Your roll cage will look great and it took me about an hour at the most.
