Traded in my 2012 JK

I know i didn't post here very often to begin with, or at all recently, but i traded in my 2012 JK for a 2014 WK2. I needed more room and I was going towards the 4 door unlimited, but saw this and loved how comfortable it was. I do miss my wrangler though, so I am considering buying a TJ soon..

Looks good..... but I previously had a Grand Cherokee and went Wrangler Unlimited. I could never go back to a Grand Cherokee, no matter how nice they are now.

jsmithtx 05-25-2013 02:57 PM

It's not quite the same is it?

traitor08 05-25-2013 03:36 PM

I don't think I could have done that. Only way to get me into a gc is an srt8

Nice looking '14 you got. New design is quite cool.

I did this too, 12 sport a with 12k, sold it after 6 months and bought a 13 10A... It should be delivered Monday... All my friends think I'm nuts... I don't care, I'm stoked

positrak 05-25-2013 07:01 PM

Well done. Not even sure why I did it. Perfectly fine '12 with only 4000 miles after 12 months. Too good a deal to pass up, practically the very last auto available in my region. Dealer seemed to be panicking about his end of the month quota + pretty disinterested in actually buying it, that combo he gave me a deal I couldn't refuse. Despite their insistence "everyone" wants them and they can sell at asking or over, reality of the matter is no one wants them (other than the maniacs on these type forums), and they're sh!tting bricks having such an expensive slow mover lingering on their lots.

Ya I had to order mine, the dealer was not enthusiastic about it... Had to give them a large deposit which didn't matter to me... I has a ep code so it was a below invoice deal on a limited edition product...

If the price wasn't so outrageous my wife would be rocking an SRT8 GC but the price is just too far out there for me.

Me too. I traded a 2011 GC for my 13 JK. Glad I did it this way though cuz I don't think I would like the 3.8v6.

Very nice! Yeah I have 3 kids and the jeep is fine if we leave mom home, but she has a grand caravan so me having the JK is fine. I love the wrangler for what it is! I could not even bring my self to venture into an unlimited... But nice jeep you got there! I would like my wife to venture that route some day! Good luck with the Tj search! Have two boys turning 16 in about 5 years so I am sure there will be an older 4L I6 jeep in the driveway as well! Lol

stevebanzai 06-15-2013 09:24 AM

thanks guys. I love my GC. I hate to say it, but I love it much more than my JK as far as convenience and driving quality goes. But nothing beats taking off the top and doors. Searching for a TJ as we speak! Lol

Calm down Ken he's getting a TJ lol

Spool 06-15-2013 10:39 AM

For those that traded in their 12 JK...how many miles did you have on it and how much money did you lose vs the price you paid for the Jeep when it was new...just trying to get an idea here

I had 11000 miles on it. Got 22,500 for it. Paid 25.

^^ These.

Went to the dealer today, tried to trade in my '12 for a '20, but they said it would be 7 years till I could get it. At least. I told em, "That's a dealbreaker, man!" and walked right the f*^$ outta there.

Poor salesman's probably still wondering what went wrong.

Xena1 06-25-2013 06:17 PM

Traded in our 2012 JK which we paid $20,580 for and got $21,000 against a JKU which was discounted $3K from sticker price. These vehicles are the best investment going!

I had a dream long ago about doing the same thing.....I woke up the next morning with coconuts on my boobs and wearing mesh pajama's....

No, not really...

Your Grand cherokee looks good. My lady has been looking at them. We thinking about buying a loaded 12 or base level 14 maybe this weekend.

stevebanzai 07-03-2013 06:13 PM

Thanks. It has been a good decision so far. Maybe not when I go down to the Outer Banks in a couple weeks! Lol.
