YJs on 35's

Anyone running 35's out there? Trying to decide between 33's and 35's!

AllMudd 05-26-2013 09:07 PM

What type and size lifts to you have? Stock or aftermarket rims and what a les?

Dixie fix 05-26-2013 09:26 PM

Well I'm planning this out and it looks like ill need 8" to clear 35's. my plans right now are to SOA but not sure where to go from there. I'm gonna be doing some fender work in the near future and plan on running 10" wide wheels. I'm looking for a wider stance. I will be regearing. (If I go with 35's)

Just can't decide if I want to go easy out of box lift and 33's or full build and 35's I've already done 2 builds and not sure if I want to go that far into the jeep.

But pictures could sway me one way or the other.

BCDonny 05-26-2013 09:26 PM

what size motor and I hope if you go with 35 that you plan on re gear

Plan on 4:88, we posted at the same time. I've got the 4.0.

I know the benefits of regearing as both my f150 and bronco were both geared low. 5:38's in the f150 turnin 46's and 4:58's in the bronco on 35's.

I'm just new to jeeps. Really want to see what is practical

sslopok 05-26-2013 10:02 PM

I just got done putting on my 4 inch zone lift and I also have a 2 inch body lift. I wish I woulda bought 35's because the duratracs I just bought look tiny:( I measured the 33's and they are 32 inches tall. There is plenty of room for 35s. My rig is mostly going to be a sand dune cruiser so I don't need much flex.

Baja1ab 05-26-2013 10:15 PM

Mine is SOA on 35s. I guess it all depends on what kind of wheelin you wanna do. I consider mine to be just about perfect for me. I can hit every trail in Big Bear, Calico, etc. with ease and still drive to and from the trail.

I'm starting to lean towards wanting to make it a more hardcore rig w tons and tires in the 40" range, but overall it suits a very wide variety of terrain. I would think 33s would get me hung up on a lot of what I do.

Here's mine with 35s. 4" spring under, 1" shackles, 1" body lift. Plenty of room and great on road. I'm trying to find some 37s to stuff in there after a little trimming.

Overall, 35s are better than 33s if you can fit them. I used to get hung up on stuff I can crawl right over now.

ive been searching craigslist for a spare set of 35s to put on mine with no luck

Dixie fix 05-26-2013 11:17 PM

My hard offroading days are behind me, tore up way too much crap over the years. But hunting camp has major trail system that I like cruising down. I'm keeping my ideas under wrap until I start the build. But I think it will be a different look.

Y'all's jeeps have the height and stance I want!

Yj fanatic do you have more pictures of your front fenders?

Here's the best of the ones I have. The top 2 are from my unfortunate ditch accident. I had 33s and a 2.5" lift then.

How's the 4.10's with 35's I've got this crappy automatic trans thinking about going 4.56-4.88, I don't drive on th interstate much mostly 60 and slower!

Not sure how they'd be with an auto, but I love them with my ax15. I get 16-18 mpgs.

Mine might have more power than most too. I have a 4.0l high output from a 94 Cherokee. I've heard they have a few more horses than the Wrangler 4.0l's.

tigerblood 05-26-2013 11:55 PM

I dont anticipate any issues when I find some 35s and I have 4.10s with the auto, I do plan on keeping the 33s on it most of the time, but i also drive on the highway, and my RPMs do get high, so bigger tires would calm it down some

With my 5 speed, 4.10s, and 35s, RPM's are around 1700 at 60mph, which I think is perfect. And I've never had to downshift for a hill. But we dont get huge hills in Michigan.

tigerblood 05-27-2013 12:08 AM

Im at like 2700-3000 RPMs at 60-70mph, its great for wheeling and cruising in town, but too high for my liking on the highway

These are 33's on an SOA with 1.5" lift springs. I would rub 35's. If you want 35's on an SOA you will need to trim to fully flex without rubbing, unless you use stiffer springs.

I should also add I have a 2.5 with 4.10's and drove over 200 miles on the highway in the past two days. Not a racecar, but I can do the 65MPH speed limit without a problem.

I considered building my own, but after cost of materials, messing up, then more materials, I decided I'd be better off just buying from someone. But it would definitely be awesome if you could build your own. It makes it 1000x better.

phnguyen7 05-27-2013 12:50 AM

I have 35s. The 33s I had were a bit small.

OverkillYJ 05-27-2013 12:56 AM

What sucks for me is that in PA you cant get past inspection without full flares that cover the tires. If not for that I would have trimmed like crazy and stuck in 35's. I see all these Jeeps on forums and from other states with little or no flares. Wish I could do that.
