Cabin Air Filter

I'm curious as to the location of the cabin air filter in an '07 Unlimited. I wasn't able to find any mention of it in the owners manual. Looking in the jeepI wasn't able to locate it either. I opened a compartment below the glove box, which intuitively makes sense, but could not see anything resembling a filter or two. Thanks for any tips.

Here's a follow-up to my question. I stopped by my mechanic's to drop off a used oil filter and asked about the cabin air filter. The '07s aren't equipped with them. I heard of this but thought it pertained to older wrangler models and in particular, models w/o a/c. Weird. If anyone knows the reasoning behind no cabin air filter, I'd be curious to the reason Jeep doesn't include them in the JK Wranglers. Especially since they are still off-road capable but also considered more of an everyday driving vehicle than older models.

Thats a good thing, less to replace.

If you ever start getting any odor coming from the vents take it to the dealer and they will use a hose attached to a spray can and spray inside each vent using a fogging solution curing the problem.

Cheers

im about 95% sure no wrangler has a cabin air filter. those are usually equipped on luxury or sport vehicles.

I was looking into this.....And found what looks to me like a filter behind the glove box.
If you squeeze the sides of the glove box and remove it, you will see a foam type filter back there. Now I need to try and find out how to remove it.
Any ideas?????

BTW, this is on my 2009.

I thought the cabin air filter was riding with the top off :)

I actually just looked closer and what looked to be a white filter behind a screen is actually just a hard piece of plastic. So maybe there isn't one after all. :)

JK's having Cabin Filters are an urban legend. They don't have them.

kittisman 09-12-2010 09:09 PM

they come on some 2011's!;)

2011s with auto temp control have the filter!

Air Conditioning w/Auto Temp Control (HAB)
• Air Filtering (JMA)

I guess my frontier and xterra and my dodge pickup are considered luxury then because they all had them.

Why, Sir.......Ah am truly offended! :(

rwunsche 11-22-2010 10:10 PM

If you have a 2011 but without the Auto AC, you can buy the filters and install them yourself. This is for 2011+ only. There are two small filters that squeeze in side-by-side.

I'll take a cabin air filter if I must, and a Hemi option too. No love for diesel though if it is an option along with a Hemi, I'm all for it so you guys can have a diesel. :)
