Engine stays hot

My engine stays pretty hot to the touch, had the jeep off for a good 40 minutes, coolant level has been going down not ridiculously fast but at a noticeable pace, also for some reason it's turning a dark yellow shade, initially was green coolant

could be your HG failing.are you blowing white smoke out the tail pipe?check your oil ,if it's milky then coolant is getting in.the color of your coolant sounds like oil is getting in...russ

when was the coolant changed last, has the system being flushed out and cleaned ever??? Could it be rusty?

Not sure, I just bought it about a month ago and not sure how good it was taken care of by the po, I'll flush it tomorrow and hopefully that's all

I would think rust is a possibility. I had a similar problem, and a radiator flush fixed it for me.

If it stays hot that may be just low on coolant, but where is it going? Look for a spot where you park, check all you fittings for crud around the joint, it leaks some where!

You still could have a bad head gasket and not show in the oil, it could be going out the tailpipe. If you can't find any leaks, that's where you should look next. Look for a greenish stain at the water pump connections and all hose connections and along the radiator seams and along the bottom. You could have a small leak in the radiator that won't drip but dries from the heat as it leaks..
