Southington Off-Road

Has anyone been here? Camped here? Any stories to share?

I've never done any off-road driving at all. Is this a good place to start? I don't wanna end up as a youtube video with 'dumba**' in the title. :whistling:

A great place to start. If you're running a stock JKU I'd probably stay out of the woods. But there are lots of trails on the upper and lower rim that you will have no problems with. It'll be a great first time experience and there is never a shortage of great jeepers and other off-road enthusiasts who are willing to help :thumb:

I've only been to SOR once but I'll be headed back soon, There were plenty of trails I was able to traverse in a stock suspended TJ with 29" tires.

I wandered off into the woods unintentionally and nearly got in over my head a couple times but for the most part I was able to power through most of the mud holes and return t tell the tale.

It's in Garrettsville. Roughly between Akron and Youngstown. Think it was $20-30 for the day pass. Place is run well, good community. All sorts of terrain

Scooba Steve 06-14-2013 03:14 PM

Day pass is $25 for driver and $5 for each passenger, kids under, I think, 12, are free.

Weekend pass is $40 for the driver, can't remember the weekend price for passengers.

Any requirements to go? Do I need a winch or anything? I've been looking for a place to get offroad.

2003 wrangler 08-27-2013 10:32 PM

Nope there are no requirements to go. It is really a great family friendly place that has trils for stock vehicles and places that challenge the best rigs. I'm gonna be out there Saturday the 7 th hope to see you on the trails. Joey

All vehicles must be 4x4, carry a full spare and technically it's supposed to be insured, but they don't check. Never a bad idea to bring tow straps

I might have to plan on going that weekend! I just got a full spare! Anyone else gonna be out there? I'm new to being on the trails and don't want to get myself into too much trouble by myself. Haha

There are usually 2 groups there every month NEO4x4 and JKFreaks. They will help show you around the property so you don't get into trouble. The staff is very helpful as well. I started going there before it was called Jeep Skool and SOR. There is plenty of terrain for everyone.

Bring your fishing poles as well. There is a nice quarry by the owners house.

Sounds awesome. I'll be there with my red 2002 wrangler Looking lost. Feel free to point me in the right direction. Haha

I won't be there this month. I'm in the middle of another XJ build that needs to be done by the end of this month.

Did I read you were in Amherst? That's were I am. Pm me if you wanna stop over. Always repairing or building a Jeep for someone. Also my garage fridge is always stocked.

I'll be sure to bring my jeep over when I need upgrades. ;-)
