my rough 5.3 parts list
Hey everyone ive been researching alot on pirate4x4, here, jeepforum, novak and google, and a bunch of other random sites. Im going to be doing a vortec swap into my 4 banger beginning of next yearish. Its a 2000 4cyl. I swapped in a d44 rear with 4.88's and a locker. A d30 with 4.88's locker and chromo shafts, 33" duratracs. 4" lift with adjustable arms. Sye and cv ds. I already talked to my local inspection station and gave him the run down of what I plan on doing and he says it will pass no problem. Im planning a 2000 or newer 5.3, 4l60e, chevy s10/ jeep transfercase hybrid so it will bolt to the gm trans. Hopefully step up to 35's. did the rpm calc on 4.88's and 35's with the 4l60e and it would be turning 2132 rpm's at 65. Anyone who has done the swap how does this rough parts list compare to what parts you used? I know teres going to be a bunch of misc. stuff but I think I got most of the big stuff. Let me know what you think or imput. I had a nice spread sheet i couldnt uploas so I had to copy and paste. Thanks

The list looks pretty good. I'm hopeing to do the swap soon too. Im trying to find a good deal on a Trailblazer 5.3. They have an aluminum block. Its 90lbs lighter then the 4.0L thats in my jeep.
You can get American made conversion radiators off ebay for around $200 with out a shroud. they are $400 with shroud and fan.
I was reading that the 5.3 emits the same tach signal as a 4cyl. You may not need the emulator on your jeep since it is a 4cyl model. I'm not completely sure on that, but its an idea.
I'm considering this swap myself. I have a 2001 Tahoe that is starting to get old and tired. I've toyed with the idea of rebuilding the motor and trans to suit the Jeep. :whistling:
