Confused

I am wondering about tire size my jeep currently has Bridgestone duelers on it (it came that way) they are a LT 255 75 R17 so I measured from the ground to the top of the tire an it is roughly 31.5" so I get curious and measure my 05 Ram 3/4 ton diesel which has on 285's and they measure almost exactly the same height - why?

it varies by brand and type of tire. your measuring it correctly. my 285's are exactly 32 when taking measurements for my procal, and my buddies 285's measure slightly close to 33. same size 285/70/17, different tire (toyo at2, nitto trail grappler)

depending on the model....
225/75/16 29x9
255/75/17 32x10
255/70/18 32x10

Ok thank you I wanted to go to 33's but I was shocked to find out these tires are already at 31"

actually you brought up a good point. i thought my tires will measure at exactly 32.71 tall before i initially purchased it. when mounted, and i noticed it was exactly 32...it was kind of bittersweet.

you can ask other members their exact tire size when mounted to get u an idea before you purchase. or you can do the 33x12.5

What rim width do you need to run 12.5's

17x8 for more sidewall clearance when aired down, but 17x9's are more average.

Ok I still have stock rims on this rig but I would like the rims and tires taken care of before summers end and the snow flies

good luck. it took me 6 months to decide on what tire size, wheel size, wheel brand, and tire brand to get.

Knows that feeling has had this jeep since February and still hasn't decided but I am finding out all sorts of things like it has wheel spacers on it - it has a 1.5" TF lift so I think whoever had it before started at least half assed on it
