Hey everyone. This is my first post and I am very new to Jeeps. I bought a 2002 TJ that has a 4" suspension lift on it and current has 33" X 12.50" BFG M/T on a 15X8" rim. I am looking into getting 33" X 12.50" MT/Rs on a 15X10 rim. Will this move require spacers? This is not my daily driver but I do drive on the road 70% of the time but I want great mud tires also. If you guys have any input on a great mud tire but also great tread wear, any help or input will be greatly appreciated.

Does anyone have any input? I am really wanting to get some new tires but do not want to get the wrong ones. And the tires im looking at getting (mt/r kevlar) i found on tire rack for about $938.00 with shipping for four tires. Is this a good price?

What will your usage be? Are you planning on airing down?
If you plan on doing any wheeling that involves airing down, stick with the 15x8 rims.
I'd say you've gotten an excellent price on the MT/Rs. Excellent tires.

I just plan on going through soft mud... I'm new to this so I'm not sure if I should be airing down? Please correct me if I am wrong but I am under the impression I can leave my tires at about 32 psi for road driving and mud?

You want 8" wide wheels for 12.5" tires. Make sure the wheels have around 4" of backspacing. I usually run under 15 lbs of air off road and 28 pounds on road with 33s

Thanks for the feedback everyone. With the 4" of back spacing... How far would the tires be sticking out? Would hurt to go less or more than 4"? I only ask because I want to understand what all these little things affect on the rest of the jeep and it's performance. Thanks in advance

A numerically higher backspacing number will bring the wheels in closer to the frame. What you are trying to avoid is tires that rub the rear coil perches or tires that rub while turning.

Got ya... I am thinking about going with the 33"X12.50"X15 goodyear MT/R w/ Kevlar on the 15X8 CRAGAR series 397 soft 8 5X4.5 bolt pattern with 4" BS. I was stuck between steel and alloy but I'm under the belief that alloys will get too messed up going off road? And how much do you think steel wheels affect MPG compared to alloy?
