Used soft top help

I just bought a used soft top for my JK. The back window zipper is busted. Does anyone know if you can still put the top down without removing the back window? And if so, will it cause damage to the back window if I do?

You can, but don't think you'd want to... Is it jacked up the point that you can't roll it up at all (is it messed up in the center or on the sides? Windows can be testy, they are definitely prone to scratches and dimples if folded or mistreated.

I can't get the window off in general. The teeth on the zipper on the sides are screwed. They are all bent and wonky. Gonna try and take a needle nose to it tomorrow but there's no way I can get the window off. I was told to let it sit in the sun and try unzipping then? I'm pretty sure that wont fix the zipper though.

Maybe take it to an upholstery shop? They might know a trick... Hate that for you, especially since you just bought it.

The heat from the sun will help. Take your time and work it slow. Once you get it off, you might want to look for a new window. Good Luck! :-)

Was reading some other threads on this topic. If the zipper is screwed up on the top side and not the window, that's a cheaper fix if you can find a window for sale. Wish I had some better help to offer than the "damn, that sucks" answers I seem to be posting!

Thanks guys! Just wish I would have known the window was jacked up when I bought it. But I got it for a super cheap price and it was super easy to install. So when everything goes that well, you always know there will be some kind if problem! Hahaha.

Use a sewing needle to bend the teeth back in place

If the zipper is busted on the top side I have seen posts from people suggesting marine shops for zipper replacement. They would be able to handle the heavier top material. If it is just the window ditch it and get new ones from the same model year.
