JK Unlimited 75K miles

Hello everybody,

just joined the forum, looking to get into my first JEEP ever- Interested in a JK Unlimited 2011 or newer.

saw a listing for a used 2011 Rubicon with 75K miles (have been shooting/looking for 30K or less). Add says new OEM shocks and new tires, great condition blah blah. I asked the owner for a CarFax, but was curious, are there major components that will require replacement soon?

I am currently driving a 2000 Xterra, 140K+ and I know that with the Nissan's, you need a new timing belt every 100K ($500), shocks need replacement/refurbishing ($800), and issues with oil pans, gaskets also needing replacement.

the guy has it listed for $28999, but over the phone he sounded open to somewhere between 24&25. Is that over paying? am I going to need to expect hefty mechanical bills in the near future?

thanks!

75k isn't really that much. That's a lot of miles for a 3 year old vehicle so I'm guessing this guy commuted pretty far too and from work and they are mostly highway miles. However, I wouldn't pay that price. Not saying it isn't worth it but you could get a brand new Sport X unlimited for somewhere in that price range. You'd have the new engine and a brand new vehicle. You can't get a new unlimted Rubicon for that cheap though.

thank you sir, I will take it under advisement.

thing is, I need a 4 door, and the new ones are just out of my price range, but about 1.5K unfortunately but my Xterra is on the brink of death, and really I don't want to put any $$$ into it if I'm just going to get rid of it within the next 2 months.

I gotcha. Well yea check out the Rubi and just check under neath for signs of severe wheeling. A scrape here and there on the skid plates wouldn't alarm me but you'll be able to tell if he wheeled it hard (dents, scrapped differentials, controls arm, etc).

BTW KBB value on that vehicle in Colorado (used ones sell for new prices here) in excellent condition (perfect) is 24k. I'd definitely see if you can get it to at least that.

I would pass. I would rather have a new non-Rubicon with less miles and the Pentastar.
