Vibration in steering wheel at 110km/h
Well after offroading last weekend my Jeeps developed a vibration when at around 100-110km/h.
My brother is a bus mechanic but doesn't know Jeeps. He helped me out a bit to at least get enough information to post.
We jacked up the Jeep and checked for play in the tie rod end but it seemed ok.
When we crawled under the Jeep though my brother noticed some play in the front drive shaft near the slip joint boot. The boots intact but the shaft can be moved side to side a bit.
When we spin the front driver side tire there is a clicking noise coming from the drive shaft in the same area as well.
I am going to get the driver side tire balanced as it looks like I may have lost a wheel weight but I was hoping if someone with experience with Jeep drive shafts could tell me what they think? I have no problem replacing the drive shaft but don't want to jump the gun before I'm sure it's the issue.
Clicking noise could be the u-joint on the driver's side axle. Have tires re-balanced and go from there.
I would get the wheels balanced first. That is the most likely culprit particularly since you lost a weight.
