Trek Armor - New Shade Option

Did anyone else see their announcement on FB?

Quote:

It's been awhile coming, but we wanted to make sure we got the input of several of our fellow Jeepers before finalizing our shade. We always take our time when introducing our new products so we can make sure our customers get the quality ...and innovation they expect from us at Trek Armor. We always use the best materials, and in doing so, our shades block an industry leading 92.5% of the sun's rays, They extend all the way to the sides of the roll cage, and also sit at the top of the roll cage for more interior headroom. Our deluxe model (shown below) has a pocket (big enough for a concealed carry firearm), and also our strapping system, which extends all the way though the back for rear storage capabilities as well. As always, everything is made in-house in our facility in Rancho Cucamonga, CA. We will have the shades in production within the next 2 weeks and are now taking pre-orders. Please contact mitch@trekarmor.com for more info.

Didn't see prices mentioned, and their website has a "Tops" tab but no info yet. Love their seat covers; will be interesting to see how these compare to the spideyshades.

Nice! Looks like a slick product. Quality will no doubt be there.

tae73 06-12-2013 03:15 PM

Wow, been thinking of getting another brand but if they are as good as there seat covers are count me in!

Did not see this but will be a nice addition to the line up!

Not intentionally playing devils advocate here (I really do love their seat covers and I can't wait till I can get a set of my own), but I'm not 100% sold on the ability to "attach" things between my passengers head and my own to a piece of fabric that isn't supported by some type of cross member.

I love the idea of it being above the roll bar all the way around though.

tae73 06-12-2013 04:13 PM

What was shown was stated as delexe model with pocket, assuming the regular model would not have that. And I am like you, not really wanting something stored near my head.

I heard from a local rep that the new shade will not conflict with the hard top so that you can leave it on with the HT. Can't wait to buy one.

wassup8687 06-12-2013 07:38 PM

That does look like a nice product. Hard to beat Trek Armor for their quality.

I'd like to see the mounting method to the rollbars and footman loops to see if they are any better than the SWS. Not that the SWS is difficult, but those spiderballs can be annoying sometimes.

These two photos make it look like a pretty quality design. I think I'll be ordering one!

Although I've had the Spiderweb Shade for about 3 years, knowing the quality of my Trek Armor seat covers, I'll buy their shade.

JKmuder 06-12-2013 08:35 PM

I like their new shade Mitch showed it to me at Jeepbeach This year.

It's serves it purpose and it's heavy duty. But almost feels like having a top on its that's good!

According to their Facebook page: "Retail pricing is going to be from around $103-$183...Our distributors and dealers should have them from $80-$165 depending on the version once they are in production."

DallasJKU 06-12-2013 09:17 PM

I just bought a SWS full safari and I think I will sell that and buy the Trek Armor. I already have their seat covers.

Ouch I was hoping closer to $100 for the jku with molle system. I hope that becomes the case.

Looks like it addresses some of the few (very few) shortcoming of the spiderweb shade.
1. Looks like a strap is not needed under the front of the roll bar cage.
2. Looks like it offers full coverage between roll bars.
3. Gives a little more head room for us tall guys because it sits on top of the roll bar instead of mid way.
4. I may have to buy one just because I love my TrekArmor seats. I get more people ask about those than anything else I have done to the jeep. The quality will be there.

Im not even going to attempt to bash Spiderweb Shade as I love this product and very happy with it. Knowing what I know now the TA shade may be a little bit better for me.

wat3rdog 06-12-2013 09:44 PM

Good call on the shade top. I'm 6'4" and when my canvas safari drops it bugs me a bit.

SilverSport 06-13-2013 07:16 AM

In for updates.

I agree, I've been happy with my Spiderweb Shade so no real complaints, but I do like the fact that the Trek Armor shade seems to give better coverage between the roll bars.

The biggest issue I'll be interested to find out is how it compares blocking the sunlight. I like the Spiderweb's UV protection while still allowing a fair amount of light to penetrate through the material.

Matador 06-13-2013 07:34 AM

In, also for updates. I need to pick a shade solution soon.

Damn you, ever expanding list of mods! Subscribed

I kind of wish they had a less close up picture of the top. I kind of would like to see the whole product and how it looks. But, I'll subscribe and wait for one of you lovely people to purchase it and show me pictures!

I do too, and just asked on their page if they have a full shot. I have a spideyshade at the moment, but definitely going to watch this one closely. I admit, I got a lil excited when I saw their post on FB yesterday. I love my TA seat covers, and the quality of their work is top notch. I can't imagine this would be any different.
