my fast yj build

well i just recently got home from deployment and as some of you may know my wife bought me a 93 yj while i was gone and gave me free reign with the bank account for parts lol  so anyway ive gotten quite a few things done so far but i figured it would be a good time to start this thread so on to the mods..
so far i have installed the..
2" body lift
rear corner guards
rock sliders
tube fenders
front bumper
front and rear grab handles

i still have to mount my winch aand mounting plate, finish the 8.8 swap after my axles come back from getting regeared, get the rear bumoer/ tire carrier mounted, center console mounted, and leds put in the dash and i will finally be able to drive it :punk: and i know it didnt happen unless theres pics so on to those lol i dont have many but i can show some before and afters

Wondertwin1 06-16-2013 11:56 PM

Vaccaro 06-17-2013 09:16 AM

indirocz28 06-17-2013 01:00 PM

Those are Hercules Trail Digger's I believe. Very good tire.

tomkatt116 06-18-2013 10:03 AM

yes they are hercules trail diggers in a 33 12.50 15 the fenders corner guards and rock sliders are off ebay from e- auto sales good products and i would say just ass good if not better than smitty but the "bed liner" isnt that great but the part itself is great and the front bumper is smitty. ill have more pics later today when i can take some ive got my winch on and my rear bumper tire carrier also got the center console from vdp mounted and my rear seat back in and ive got to get a few brake lines and such for the 8.8 swap and then ill be waiting on my axles to come back from getting re geared and ill finally be able to drive it lol

and well i wanted to wheel her so bad i made time to do so these are from her first trip out no the best pics and no action shots mostly after action shots but its hard to take pics at night and wheel when ur the only one taking pics Attachment 538218 Attachment 538226

and now to the fun part ab an hour after those pics were taken we were almost back to pavement and about to head home when i noticed when i turned my steering wheel full lock to the right the wheels were barely turning  and it ended up that my frame was rusted pretty bad behind the steering box and chose at that time to break. although i was glad it happened at the end of the trail and not on the highway i was a little upset anyway. so we limped her to my buddies house and got her on his trailer and took her home

the next day i went put and got a piece of 2x4x3/16" tube and some 1/4" channel to fix the frame and decided that the passenger side looked a lil rough to so we would replace it as well and after 2 days she was back to normal

about a week after this we decided to go on a camping trip it would be me my wife my friend that helped me haul and fix the jeep and his girlfriend and we camped at some trails we knew of here locally unfortunately no action pics still but some nice poser shots lol

Attachment 538330

then ab 2 weeks after that we went wheeling and i busted my windshield a little on a low hanging branch i didnt see in time and then about 30 minutes later i broke my passenger side axle shaft trying to pull a 72 f150 out of a hole

Attachment 538346

so it gave me a perfectly good reason to swap in a solid cherokee shaft ive had waiting on the right moment

Attachment 538354

and thats pretty much up to date on where im at right now. as on now im working a lot and my wifes truck is down so i cant really wheel in case i break something so im at a pause in fun for the moment but it wont be long let me know what you guys this so far

Wondertwin1 11-24-2013 07:58 PM

2 piece front axle shaft?!

samizdad 11-24-2013 08:58 PM

Thanks for the update. I was wondering how it was coming. Seems you've been busy. I learned tonight how "helpful" it is to have good tools and an air compressor when owning a Jeep. I believe a torch is in order next.

tomkatt116 11-24-2013 09:31 PM

yes a 2 piece axle shaft in the front d30 of a yj on the passenger side there is a vacume actuated disconnect if you look on the last pic you can see the 2 piece shaft and solid shaft side by side if you have any more questions let me know and yes the right tools are a great thing to have as well as know how and a awesome forum to go on ans ask lots of questions i hope to be able to wheel soon and maybe get some action shots but right now its not looking to promising with work and holidays and the military but i will post pics asap lol

tomkatt116 11-24-2013 09:46 PM

im also thinking about metal cloaks and 35s what do yall think

OregonPlinker 11-24-2013 10:09 PM

35s are nice... lol
