Off to see the wizard

Put the Curt tow bar on as per a fellow named Mello Mike, easy as pie. No problems getting the bumper off (was a little worried about that, have broken several bolts off this Jeep). Towed the jeep home with the motorhome, could hardly tell it was there. Heading to the North Shore tomorrow, fishing on Superior. Can't wait. One last question: I have an 05 TJ with 6 speed, I do the following:
1 transfer case in neutral
2 Put it in 4,5,6th gear
3 key forward to just unlock the steering wheel, like where is would be when you shut it off but don't release the key

Anything else? (already packed the nordeast and the Glenlivet)

Was curious how and where the bracket mounts to the front end of the jeep? I would like to be able to tow my jeep 250 miles to my cabin when I go up so I've been looking at them but hard to find info on how they mount.. Thanks

I just followed the instructions on the website :

Mello Mike's RV & Off-Road Adventures: Flat Tow System For My TJ Jeep Wrangler

Only had to drill 2 holes, but now i don't have my rubber baby buggy bumpers on anymore...

The Curt tow bar was $99 at Fleet Farm, I upgraded the bolts for another $15

Ahh, so the bumper pads come off and you mount the tow bar mounts to the back of the bumper and that's it? When he talked about reinforcing the metal was he talking about taking a bigger wider piece of metal Nd mounting the plate right onto the back of the bumper and that's it? No other support to the frame to beef it up? I have been curious about this since I got my jeep a few months ago, didn't even know where to start.

Yup, once you get the bumper off, there are 2 nuts holding each of the pads, I lined up the brackets with one of the holes, and drilled it out with a 1/2" bit, then put the bracket on with that one bolt and marked the 2nd hole, drilled it and TAADAA!! Beefy brackets, and the backer part is one piece of pretty hefty metal. Towed the Jeep ~ 1000 miles over last week, no problems, even had to do a panic stop in the fog, a little pucker factor, but the whole set-up was flawless.
