I've got a 99 Wrangler. It's an I6. The problem I cannot seem to solve is this- the check engine light has been on for a couple months reading a cyl 6 misfire. It wasn't affecting anything so I didn't bother with it, but just a couple days ago my jeep developed a strange symptom. When I accelerate, the engine cuts out and the jeep "pulls" or "jumps" fairly hard.
So far I've replaced everything that I could think would be causing the issue. It's got 169,900 miles, so it needed a tune up anyway. It has a new distributor, distributor cap, distributor wires, all new spark plugs, ignition coil, and cyl 6 fuel injector.

I had a misfire code issue for a while too, with the jumping and skipping when accelerating. new plugs, wires, injector cleaner, all made it better but not go away. Then I changed the TPS (throttle position sensor) and that solved it, but only for a week, 3 bad aftermarket parts later I went and got the Mopar one at the dealer and 3 years later it still fine. Don't waste time and money like I did going to advance auto, car quest, and Napa only to find out all of them were made by the same company just in a different box.
Granted I have a 4 banger but the TPS is the same for both engines and causes the same issue when it fails.

Ok thanks. I asked about the TPS to someone at the parts store, but they told me it would throw a different code other than cyl 6 misfire. I'll check into that again.

I had a code for the TPS at first but next 3 were miss fire codes until I got the Mopar one.

I replaced the tps. Now the problem is worse. It's kicking more than it was, it's idling high, and my brakes are locked up. WTF!?!?

Its not possible for the TPS to affect the brakes on that I have no idea. As for the kicking and idle high are you sure the spark plug wires are in the correct locations. If its doing crazy things like you describe I don't even know where to begin
