Outright Lie?

Claiming 30 miles per gallon for a jeep is an outright lie from Chrysler. Do any of you get any where close to 30MPG?

i could see instantaneous consumption as 30... but not per-tank average...

TylerU 06-15-2013 05:44 PM

never heard of any 4x4 got mpg even close to 30...

00scoob 06-15-2013 07:39 PM

I cant read the fine print on the pic, but i would imagine that like most auto makers, they are quoting the lowest model, like the 2wd unlimited. That probly gets about 30.

Ya, well as we all know, MPG estimates are done under labratory conditions.

It's a Canadian ad. Why do they have a "miles per gallon" estimate?

flflash 06-15-2013 08:00 PM

You mean your not getting 30mpg out of your Jeep?

WhiskeyMike 06-15-2013 08:09 PM

They meant Kilometers Per Gallon. What does the fine print say?

madskider 06-15-2013 08:19 PM

i see 30 highway... meaning that's the consumption rate while driving at highway speeds... not the average MPG by dividing the miles driven on one tank by how many gallons in your tank... thats why you see two different rates on most vehicles, OEM rates are based on consumption at speed, not average per tank...

Still way higher than what I've gotten on the highway on my 2013 Sahara at 60 mph. I once reset the computer AFTER getting on the highway and setting the cruise. Best I could muster was slightly less than 24 mpg after an hour on the highway.

Perhaps if the top was off, the windshield was folded down, I had a 40 mph tailwind and I was coasting down Pike's Peak in neutral I could get the display to read 30 mpg.

either way, it was probably the best number the testers got in their road tests prior to it hitting the market so they took it and fluffed it full of sales hype... it is a marketing add...

They still have to post the EPA numbers. But I can see if they made changes to the Jeep that they could obtain 30MPG highway. Change the tires to a good highway tire, drop as much weight as possible, and use non-ethanol gas.

RevCo666 06-16-2013 12:26 AM

They probably ment 30 Kilometers per liter lol

XtreemLee 06-16-2013 12:42 AM

My Liberty CRD got 30 once I even took a picture of the display. It was slow highway driving...

Mykul 06-16-2013 12:56 AM

Lol 30 kilometres/liter would be over 70 MPG!

In metric they usually calculate fuel consumption in litres /100Km. Where 30L/100Km would be horrid.

What I found odd about the add is they pictured a JKUR, but the numbers are for a JK sport.

All I know is that they should discontinue that ad for sanity sakes hehehe
