YJ diagnostic port

Does the 1988 YJ have a diagnostic port? If so, is it OBDI, OBDII? What information can be obtained from it? Trying to track a miss/stumble and having no luck. Thought it might be a sensor or something. Replaced ignition module, coil, coil connector, plugs, wires, dist cap/rotor, and fuel filter. Also have to install dist pick up coil.

That would be for 1990-1995... This is for a 1988, which I believe has a micro-system that does not have a Check Engine light.

I don't know how that you can retrieve any trouble code data... basically follow regular troubleshooting guidelines until you find the source of your problem.

This. There are no codes. The only light you'll get is to replace the O2 sensor which should be done no later than 88,500 miles.

this page is primarily for cjs but covers the 258 pretty well if it is still stock:

this one shows the pinout for the pre-obd diagnostic connectors by the battery:

we had a diagnostic port by the passenger side hood hinge on the 90 that we had adapters from an old brick modis to hook up to, it was right above two relays.
