Fender flares

1. Can some one explain to me like I'm a five year old how to remove them from my jeep. I spent about two hours and only got the drivers rear off.
2. Should I do anything while they're off to prevent rust or clean wheel wells.
3. What can I do to make it easier to put back on/take off in the future if need be

There are two holes in the inside of the fender flare that the wheel liner pops into. Stick your finger into the hole, push the clip to the side, and push it in. Then you can bend the wheel well liner enough to get a hand in there to hold the plastic pieces that the screws go into. It helps to have a second person to help hold the fender liner or take the screws out while you hold the plastic pieces.

Some of them are screwed into small plastic rectangular pieces. The others are screwed into little cylinder like things that spin when I try to turn the screws. How do I get those out?

To make it easier on me if I ever had to remove tem again, I only put every other screw back in lol.

You've stripped your nutserts on those. I am dealing with this now. I ended up just ripping the fender flare from it in frustration. It didn't damage it top much surprisingly, just stretches the hole a bit.

Now that I can easily get to the bolts since the flare is no longer in the way I am going to dremel cut the heads off and punch them through with a hammer and replace them with bolt/flange nuts when I put them back on after painting.

I will never take these fucking things off again. What a PITA...

I held the nutserts on the back side with a pair of vice grips lightly clamped on them and removed the screws. Also did the same thing to put them back on and they tightened up. I did this to bedline my flairs as I didn't want to go through the whole taping off my Jeep deal.

I washed mine well once off, and applied a good coat of wax to the body to help protect it.

I haven't had any luck with this method so far. Maybe I need new vice grips instead of a fancy dremel lol
