High idle

What would cause my jeep to idle so high? It's idling around 2k. Vaccum lines all seem fine

Double check all vacuum connections, could be a hairline split in connection or a small wear hole in a line...it does not tkae much of a leak to affect the idle.

also check to make sure your the leak isn't coming from your exhaust manifold bolts being loose. That will cause a high idle as well

I have the same thing but it goes away after time I'm assuming it might be trying to warm the engine up but I just went through a winter with it and it didn't do this before now it's summer

What engine? 4.2, 4.0 or 2.5? If the choke kick down on the 4.2 is stuck, it will idle high like that.

I have a 4.0 year 95

Well, that shoots that theory :) A couple other things. If you have a temp gauge, does it appear to be working properly? If the temp sensor goes out, it sends incorrect signals to the fuel injection that can make the idle change. Other thing would be a vacuum leak in the brake booster. If you can't find any leaks in any hoses, the booster itself may be leaking. Can you hear any whistling coming from the firewall area?

I dont hear any vaccum leaks anywhere and my temp sensor is reading correct temp...also one thing my oil pressure guage is going all over the place...I think the sensor is just going out...because ive checked for vaccum leaks with snoop ( if you dont know what that is it is a fluid that bubbles when there is a leak)

Hopefully that will find it whatever it is. We chased a vacuum leak on an S-10 for years. Knew it was there by how the engine acted, but couldn't find it. I guess we finally replaced enough parts to fix it.
