RIP My TJ

At least for the next 4 days. Needs a rebuilt transmission and an SYE, because the transfer case is leaking due to the angle of the driveshaft. Gonna cost me $2,900 after parts and labor (worst case scenario) and I'm Jeepless for 4 days. :(

at least you get her back! Just curious, did you not lift it right? (throwing the angle off by too much)

The PO did a 1.5" body lift and didnt make any other adjustments.

A body lift doesn't change the angle of driveshaft... do you have a suspension lift too? That would make more sense :)

Yep. 4". Haha. That must be it. He just said lift, so I didn't know which he was talking about.

Dude for that price, swap In a 4bt cummins. You'll get all the power you want and 35 mpg.

But you will need to swap axles.. The ups vans and bread trucks used to use 4bts. Search a junkyard.

It can be done for your 3,000 bucks and some work!

I don't have the know how, tools, or space to do an engine swap myself. And the shop sure as hell isn't gonna do it for 3k. Plus, my engine is still fine. Lol

That's great if you know what you're going. I don't. Don't have a clue. And don't know anyone who knows that can teach me. I'd rather pay the shop to do it and know its done right than mess it up worse trying to figure it out on my own.

I'm not just doing the tranny though either. I'm doing the tranny, then I need an SYE, so I'm going ahead and having them do the track bars and the control arms and the CV driveshaft for my tummy tuck (I need the SYE anyway, why not get it all done at once?) as well as a new exhaust because mine's got a leak and I have to go do emissions next month.

Sounds like a predator quote.

Who's doing the work?
