Cigar Thread

I don't know if this has been done, but I think it'd be pretty cool to get a cigar discussion going.
Anyone on here a cigar aficionado?

Senior Chief 06-19-2013 08:32 PM

Big time ... Just finished a nice Camacho Triple Maduro

Senior Chief 06-19-2013 08:33 PM

One of my all time favorite cigar bars is down in Naples. Rocky Patel's Burn

Nice!!! I've been there once. Not what I expected at ALL! So cool. I just finished a local "Tampa's Best"... Decent, very mild. How often do you go to Naples?

Wondertwin1 06-19-2013 10:46 PM

Well. Y'all probably smoke that high end stuff, but in high school when everyone else started getting into weed and all that me and my buddies got into cigars. Nothing special, just some $10 cheapies at the local liquor stores with humidors. Makers mark makes a very good cigar.

phoolish 06-19-2013 10:52 PM

I need to setup my cigar game. Whats some good ones?

Just the one time. Loved it though

Best advice (IMHO) find a local store. Preferably one big enough to have a walk in humidor. If you're lucky enough to have a few in your area, even better.

Let the staff direct you through the maze of choices....

We have a huge place a few miles north of where I work. It's called the "cigar cave". The way my coworker describes it, it sounds like one of our aircraft hangars, haha.

There's a place a mile down the road from my house that has a pretty decent walk-in humidor. Just the regular Thompson, Alec Bradley, a bunch of different Rocky Patel stuff. Pretty decent selection of a bunch of smaller brand cigars. I'm about to run up to the store near work and grab one for this weekend. I'll take some pics.

Most clubs mail them to you. Find a club you find decent and get a sampler pack. Also, invest in some decent cutters/lighters. Every cheap cutter I bought broke on the first couple. I have a decent v-cutter, and one of those jet lighter pieces of crap.

and several others ...
Get a sampler of a few high ends, you'll find several bargains to choose from.

My favs: Cohiba Red Dot, Romeo y Julieta 1875, Rocky Patel Vintage 1992, Padron Family Reserve, Montecristo Red.
... and don't forget to try the most popular right now, Flor de las Antillas Toro. AWESOME smoke!

Senior Chief 06-20-2013 06:09 PM

I guess my "if stranded on a desert island" cigar would be a Cuban Montecristo number 2

Maitre 06-20-2013 06:13 PM

Ohhh ... and Gurkha Legend, and Don Pepin Garcia Black/Blue and CAO, and AVO and Davidoff and Oliva, and Alec Bradley Prensado and Ashton Heritage and Arturo Fuente Hemingway ... and ....

So little time, so many cigars!

Damn. I've had a few Gurkas and liked them. The Oliva Cain is a big favorite.

JakePurvis 06-20-2013 06:38 PM

Haha! Lots of cigars. What's the very next one I should get?

Senior Chief 06-20-2013 06:51 PM

La Gloria Cubana Seri R number 7. Then kick back for an hour and a half.

I'll be rolling over to Cigars on 6th here in Denver after the gym today. Any Jeepers around Denver should check them out, several Jeepers go there along with a lot of good folks...

I've been looking to going to Denver for a vacation. Colorado seems nice, so does Washington.
