5 Day Weekend July 4th

:wavey:

Anyone interested in doing anything for a couple days July 4th weekend? Looks like between the holiday and being Government Furloughed, I have Thursday- Monday off. Don't really want to stay home with a schedule like that..

Not interested in a day run...more of at least a few days if possible. Due to low funds because of the paycut I'm taking that comes with this Furlough, I can't drive 5 hours to get somewhere, but I can stay gone for a few days.

Anyone ? Anywhere?

Lorie :)

RDS, where you working at, they are pushing mandatory overtime here.

WOKNROX 06-21-2013 10:34 AM

I'm a Government Employee.. we are all being Furloughed. We're off July 4th, I'm dropping a leave chit for the 5th and my Furlough off day without pay is Monday, July 8th.

Yah, the on-call every other weekend deal kinda sucks, but overall my job is a pretty sweet gig.

Duckquackers 06-21-2013 10:50 AM

I'm a permanent DoD employee and have received no directed furlough days as of yet....

Are you a contractor?? Contractors are not being Furloughed. Only GS employees.

Not yet. I don't want to do something that risks breakage right now, and I know that place is a bit tougher than Calico/BB..not sure it's worth the risk at this time. Front locker is out too right now; not sure if it'll be fixed by then. Remember; stock axle F/R with 30 Spline rear is what I'm rolling on right now.

Nope GS 13 here, I think it is just certain departments. I work within the VA system and with all the folks returning we can't work enough hours.

Ya, I will blowing through some savings to do it. And I really can't break right now!!

I H8RDS 06-21-2013 11:07 AM

I always had time to wheel...I work the 9/4/5

Every weekend off and 3 day weekends every other week. Now I have that every week, but with a 20% paycut...and for 3 months.

I H8RDS 06-21-2013 11:17 AM

Nonetheless, I want to do something, go somewhere and camp/wheel if anyone is game..

Duckquackers 06-21-2013 12:05 PM

I got ya when I was working at Balboa we did the 9/4/5 I loved it here we just do the 5/2 all the time sprinkled in with the OT on Saturday/Sunday or a Holiday.

I H8RDS 06-21-2013 12:20 PM

Yuk!! I refuse to work weekends and holidays. I'd find another job. Life's too short.

Socaltrailrider 06-21-2013 12:31 PM

^^^ I'm with ya on that one!..lol :)

Duckquackers 06-21-2013 12:49 PM

Yea but you would be surprised at how many folks came in of Father's Day... I won't work the weekend because that is my family time but I do come in an hour early and leave an hour late.
